This Arduino based IDC-6/SPI expansion board (shield) contains a 6 socket-IDC and an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) socket. It can be used to connect electronic bricks which have IDC-6 and SPI interface.
A Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) system consists of one master device and one or more slave devices. The master is defined as a microcontroller (Arduino) providing the SPI clock and the slave as any integrated circuit receiving the SPI clock from the master.
SPI is a synchronous serial data protocol used by microcontrollers for communicating with one or more peripheral devices quickly over short distances. It can also be used for communication between two microcontrollers.
No pins are specifically reserved by the IDC-6/SPI expansion board; all are broken out to connectors. Pin dedication varies according to the connected devices.
