The Czech built Albatros series of jets, from L-39 to the latest L-59 are the most widely used basic/advanced jet trainer in the world, they are also hugely popular with display teams and "private" pilots looking for the thrills of a Military jet at a relatively low price, as a result this good looking and highly versatile aircraft is often a feature at air shows all over the world and they are even raced at the Reno Air Races!

This beautiful L-59 just oozes quality, the deep gloss finish and attention to scale detail is amazing, this level of finish is normally reserved for large scale turbine models and EDF models with a much, much higher price tag. The one piece removable wing is retract ready and features flaps, the nicely made glass fiber ducting is all included as is the hardware and scale drop tanks. For the final touch, we have a set of purpose built electric retracts available, which feature sprung scale trailing link legs and alloy wheels, they are designed to fit straight in with no mods (NOT included, see related items below).

As well as truly amazing looks, this H-King L-59 is designed for performance. There is tons of canopy space for Lipolys, a high power 6s set up would be the minimum for jet like performance, 8s would take you into ballistic territory! The L-59 is such a stunning jet to fly, both fast and aerobatic, so we would reccomend High Torque Metal Gear mini servos all round. This high quality L-59 Super Albatros is one of the best looking and performing 90mm EDF jets available anywhere, a genuine scale, high performance EDF at an affordable price, for scale jet fans, this L-59 is a must!

Center of gravity in manual is listed very wrong. This model is know to "punch landing gear through the wings" but its mainly due to peoples bad landings. If the CG is too far aft, when the nose wheel touches down its rebound will cause the model to rotate again, causing it to take back off, and stall right above the runway. Set CG 55 cm (2.25") behind Lemac, keep some speed in your landings, have long speedy low approaches. Best suited for paved runways. I also found the covering to be very loosely adhered to the wings, I had to iron it back on as it became very wrinkly from handling and building.

Received mine all the way to NewZealand without damage. It was double boxed and everything in box was well restrained with tape, but the instruction manual was missing.
The model is very light and beautifully detailed, I ordered also the suggested retracts (product ID 107000065) full metal servoless trike retracts with oleo legs and brakes. The retracts are nicely made but the brake drum units ran so far out of true that they caused the wheels to bind so I removed the brake/drum mechanism and the units worked well. The wing cut outs for the retracts are very large and no wheel wells are supplied with the kit, so using sketch up I designed right & left units and had my friend make some for me on his 3D printer. these worked out superb and I will try to post some pics in files section.
I read much discussion on the plane being tail heavy so I decided to fit my E-Flite 80mm fan instead of the 90mm recommended fan. This unit is approx 600 grams lighter than most of the 90mm units and using 6 cell 5000mAh battery pack I saved a huge amount of weight and with the fan mounted in the designed position and battery pack fitted I achieved COG of 55mm back from leading edge of wing measured 240mm out from center of wing.
A small amount extra modification was required to the rear exit tube to resize it to suit and I am getting 5.2 lbs static thrust so can't wait to maiden it soon as weath

Just got to put in a Jetcat P20.
flys good but quality of wing construction is very bad.
put in Jet 1A struts and with a mild landing broke the complete wing in half.
All main struts in wing are balza wood.
What a shame not to use ply wood.....
Saving on a pour wing construction,

WEll my L59 arrived a week back.. All in all ok and complete but again they should check their packaging. Fuselage cracked in 4 places unfortunately. U can tell there was too much pressure in the centre of the box which actually caused the mid section balsa even to crack.. So a bit of reenforcement is needed. I think canopy can do with some reinforcement under the cockpit area also. Apart from that the attention to detail is great and all decals and paint has been done very well. Just ordering a Jetcat p20 which will go in this bird. :) let the games begin! cheers

bought L-59 3 monts ago and it comes to maiden. This plane need too much modification before fly. My biggest advise who just start to build this kit. Fill the flap holes and modify the wing. This plane won't like bumps on landings and wing is too fragile. Check the forums before building it

My plane came bent and broken at mid fuse due to abuse from shipping, it needs more protection to arrive well. I used a Wemotech EVO turbine, 11 blade, two 4 cell 5000 mAh Nano tech batteries, servos and retracts offered in the combo, de lux ESC 120 A and Castle Creations UBEC 10 A. Total weight: 9 lbs 1 oz . Exact pilots for this plane are PRODUCT ID: 017000035. I took off with 30 flaps and landed 45, straight flight, no bad tendencies, not the fastest, but decent. Also changed the six bolt canopy fix system for one canopy lock on back. Do not epoxy air inlets, screw them, it is the only access to your turbine, so you can move them foreward and make space. Great plane.

For this price unbeatable quality 'out of the box'. Lots of decals. Very nice looking. Fuselage with a very stable structure. Work to do (necessary for my opinion): reinforcement of the wing, especially the boxes for the gear- mounts (glassing and/or plywood at the upper side of the wing). Recommended: move the holder for the EDF at least 3"/8 cm to the front (as long as the thrust tube will allows it), otherwise it will be very tail heavy.
I fly with 2 batteries 4s/3700 mAh/40C in series, a HV-ESC of 120 A and a Wemo MidiEvo with Typhoon 68-1500 kV. On grass it needs around 80 m to start. In the air it goes 'like on rails'. Landing without problems: cut power 150 m before touch-down and let her come (even without flaps). I'm absolutely satisfied.
