I bought this to put on the front of my V262 quad to aid orientation. With the ping pong ball diffuser on it was rather dim. I then removed the ping pong ball (using a heated knife blade to cut through the hot glue) and the thing was transformed - under the ping pong ball was a very bright LED with a wide "field of view" of maybe 100 degrees all round. The LED runs from 3.3-6.0V and so I used a female 2S battery connector (eBay) to tap 1S from the V262 LiPo male balance connector. I only needed the red and black wires from the JR servo plug connector of the strobe - with this mod it weighed only 3.0 gms (down from 7.5 gm) and I hot glued it to the front of the V262.

Before the test flight I balanced the V262 LiPo carefully and the cells were within 0.00V. The LED was very visible on the test flight, with a white cloudy sky, up to maybe 50m, and all you have to do is rotate the V262 so you can see the strobe and you know it is pointing towards you.. I don't know how good it will be with sunshine, but it has to help. After the flight of 7-8 mnts the LiPo cells were only 0.01V different. I have just ordered two more of these strobes and will put them on my 3S X525 and ST360, since this connection method is also applicable to 3S, tapping off 1S with a female 3S balance connector.

maybe sell it without the ping pong diffuser?
