I think I figured out why some seem to run awesome, and some destroy themselves after little use. It's a quality control issue with the carb. I've had two, one wrecked the liner fit after two flights, the other is great. I finally dissassembled them completely to find out.

On the one that works good, the spray bar on the carb points down into the engine. On the one that trashed the liner early, the spray bar points directly up out of the engine. So if you get or have one of these, make sure you can't see the little slit in the little brass tube you can see when you look down the intake, otherwise it's wrong!

What happens is you can tune the high end right, and you can tune the low end right, but the mid range is lean. Lots of flying happens at mid range, so this quicly overheats and wears it out.

I need to set the needles up every time, otherwise it will stop during first day flight. I spent 3 tanks at first to break in following all the recommendations before first flight, but it still not stable. The high speed needle is easy to set up but the low speed needle seems not to have enough regulation. It reached at the minimum but the engine tends to work richer at low speed... then when you push throttle from min to max it tends to "glub... glub...".. and the low speed needle does not have "screws" anymore. Besides that, the engine is economic.. more than 20 min with one tank...

I have had a leo for a few months now, I have had it mouted in 3 diferent aircraft and I not been able to fly any of them because I and my club mates have not been able to get this motor to run reliably, despite some of them being experts at motor tuning

I have been waiting over 14 months for a replacement for the faulty LEO 40 that Hobby King sold to me.

Hobby King do not give warranty on goods that they sell.

I bought a Leo .46 and spent the last 2 months & a half gallon of glow fuel trying to get it running right! It wouldn't idle, ran too lean, and coughed out when I gunned it. I replaced a split o-ring on the high speed adjusting needle. It still wouldn't idle right. I took the carb apart and found the idle adjust o-ring was also split. I got in a couple of good flights but after 3 dead stick landings & damaged plane. I discovered the needle valve is chewing up the new o-ring. Now it's hard starting. I give up for now...I found a used OS .46 so at least I can fly.

No recomendo, quebrou biela no amaciamento. Motor muito frgil e de m qualidade. D preferncia aos ASPs, tambm no so aquelas coisas mas duram um pouco mais. Se puder compre OS mesmo. Esses sim so bons.

I do not recommend, softening the rod broke. Motor too fragile and of poor quality. Give preference to ASPs, are not those things but they last a little longer. If you can buy the same. Those are good.

My engine arrived well packed and with all you need to get it working (carburettor, muffler, gaskets & bolts). You must purchase a glowplug, though - I used OS #8 for mine. Started fairly easily on a JXT 10x6 prop with 10pcnt nitro fuel after a bit of priming. Good, smooth exhaust note and strong running. There were some small casting defects on cooling fins and slight burring on exhaust ports, otherwise top quality. Excellent value for money.
