The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet, designed by Alexander Lippisch, was a German rocket-powered fighter aircraft. It is the only rocket-powered fighter aircraft ever to have been operational. Its design was revolutionary, and the Me 163 was capable of performance unrivaled at the time. German test pilot Heini Dittmar in early July 1944 reached 1,130 km/h (700 mph), not broken in terms of absolute speed until November 1947. Over 300 aircraft were built; however, the Komet proved ineffective as a fighter, having been responsible for the destruction of only about nine Allied aircraft.

Want something different from a scale model? Look no further than the ME-163 Komet. You have it all, flying wing, powered glider, and scale model all wrapped into one. Dog fight against your friends with their Mustangs and P-47's or just tear up the sky in style.

Our Messerschmitt ME-163 comes almost ready to fly, needing only a few evenings of work to complete. The fuslage and vertical fin are all molded 1-piece fiberglass that comes pre-painted from the factory. Plug in wing panels are easily secured through the quick release hatch in the fuselage. Tail dragger landing gear allows easy rise off ground take-offs. Much like the full scale Komet, our model handles well. The large vertical fin and functional rudder contribute to a excellent flying model. A complete hardware pack including fuel tank, engine mount, and spinner is included.

• Almost Ready to Fly - Just install your choice of motor, battery, and electronics
• Pre-painted fiberglass fuselage
• Built up balsa wood wings pre-built and covered from the factory

The thing flies very well, but the correct CG is 145mm from leading edge wing and not 135mm or 105mm what the description advices. and then the Up-Trim will still be 6m.
Control throw max Up must be 25mm for sure, you wil need that for a smooth landing.
Side trust engine must be 2 dgr to the right and no down trust at all then it flies straight.
You have to secure the cockpit hood with extra screws to the fuselage, elsewise you wil lose the hood fot sure during flight.
I have mounted a ASP .52 2 stroker on the ME, like a homesick angel it goes up en up and up.
And for the rest..................a very fun flyer and with good looks.

Recived the box from the dutch WH after 3 days, very fast.
Quality at first site looks very good, all the glue joints also, wings fits like gloves.
After 3 hours of 'building' the plane is ready to go to the field.
For now the power will come from a .52 two stroker, when it flys nicely I will put a wren 44er in it, must be going then like a bat out of hell with 4.5 kilo's of trust.
I asume it will by flying also nicely with a P20 also.
Also read on RCgroups that the exact CG must be set at 135mm from LE and not 105mm as the description advises, I will follow that experience advise, also from start the UPset 'reflex' I will set at 5mm on the aileron's.
We will see how it flys, let you all know.

Im building this online and putting a turbine in it. A Jetcat p-60 with 13.5lbs of thrust. Goto RC Groups/fuel warbirds and look for 61" ME-163 from HK

UNBOXING REVIEW ONLY. 1-14-14 received. Three problems: 1) The lower former for landing gear and mount itself were glued to the fiberglass body at an ANGLE, i.e., misaligned. This will be a major headache to fix. 2) The Xeroxed and stapled instruction sheets improperly try to show the CG at 105mm, but NOT AT THE WING JOINT! Will have to estimate. 3) Instructions don't warn about the MANDATORY reflex for ailerons. Otherwise, it was well packaged, absolutely no damage to airframe from shipping. Fuse and wings have a perfect - although glossy - finish. More later. (See Discussions for help with CG.)
