The firmware that comes delivered with this ESC has the governor mode turned on, which is fine for helis. I wanted to use this on an airplane, so the governor mode needed to be turned off. The name of this ESC includes "BLHELI", so I figured I could use the BLHELI programming guide to turn off the governor mode. However, the firmware delivered did not match the BLHELI firmware function at all. So I cut the covering off, traced the 6 required ISP lines (MISO, MOSI, SCK, RST, GND, VCC) and soldered on temporary connections into a USBASP. Then I used the BHHELI suite installation software and selected the appropriate firmware "MULTISTAR 40AV2 MAIN" (same firmware for 40A or 60A ESC) and programmed that to the ESC, then changed the configuration to GOVERNOR OFF. With all of that done, I now have a fully functional 60A HV ESC that works fine with an airplane.
