Just one quick glance at this superbly crafted MXS-R is all it takes to be impressed by its quality, look harder and you will see that this model is a serious performer.

The Balsa/ply construction is of the best quality and close attention to weight saving, without compromising strength has been achieved. More clues as to the quality of this model are given away by the carbon fibre under-carriage, wing tube, tail wheel, motor mount and horns. The expertly applied covering is nicely done and matches the superbly painted glassfiber cowl and wheel pants, the attractive scheme is also ideal for orientation. The MXS-R is very practical and features plug in wings for easy transportation and a large canopy for easy battery access.

The MXS-R has clearly been built for hardcore 3D, the huge control surfaces combined with a light flying weight give you total control and with this in mind, the lightweight & heavy duty hardware, including a pull/pull rudder & ball-linked control rod's offers the kind of precision you would expect for a high performance 3D plane. Despite clearly being built with 3D in mind, the MXS-R would be just as happy sport flying, so you dont need to be a hard-core 3D pilot to appreciate and enjoy this truly stunning scale aerobatic model!

Postage to au is a rip off but was definitely worth it. Absolutely love this plane except the tail wheel assembly is rubbish. Other than that it flys great nice and light with huge control surfaces capable of large amounts of throw makes it a really fun model. Stock in au needed just in case

I just built my MXS-R a week ago well packed with only the spinner missing. I have done about 6 flights. The model is absolutely beautiful, and flew great. Only 2 clicks on my right aileron since it was slightly warped from the shipping. Great looks and flies like a dream. check youtube link in the video tab of my maiden flight. Thanks HobbyKing for a beautiful plane.

Weight is 2.40kgs that is the best you can have with 5s 3000( 400grs)
construction all good very good kit.
frame weight is 1380grs all in
electric is 5045 motor, 5 servo ( 100grs), 60 amps ESC-60grs, 20 grs receiver, prop 16/8-50grs, I run an extra 40 grs telemetrie.
Only problem is the sticker, not super good quality and some of these were right hand not left and right.

I have now flown this model 8 times under varying conditions. Very straight and true, goes exactly where you point it. I have since replaced the 16" x 8" wood prop with a Mejzlik 16x10 which gives unlimited vertical and allows good cruising at half throttle. Motor is 4260 500kV(290grams) with 80A YEP ESC & 4000mAh Zippy compact LiPo (460grams), giving 12 minutes flying time with throttle management. Full throttle is only required for unlimited vertical lines and tumbling manoeuvres. The only failure has been one wheel spat cracking around the ply mounting plate, easily fixed with a little fibreglass and cyano. The white striped underside makes orientation simple when doing aerobatics. The 2.5 kg flying weight is good for this size model allowing easy use from the average sports oval. I highly recommend this quality aircraft, it's a joy to fly.

A good quality kit with well made airframe and quality C/F extras. The manual supplied on disc is basic and assumes an experienced modeller, c/g info is good, control throw info is wrong. The supplied plastic spinner is a tad small at 50mm diameter. I replaced the spinner with a carbon fibre one with a 2.25" (57mm) diameter that fits the cowling much better. The cowling does look a little strange with it's 3 cooling holes but they work well. The supplied pull/pull rudder cables were frayed, poor quality and went in the bin. I used coated S.S. 90lb fishing trace wire. Servo cut outs allow for 36x15 size servos. I used full size Ino Lab servos for rudder and elevator (5.5kg torque). I put the elevator servo between the wing spar and rudder servo and use a C/F push rod with the supplied ball links. I have used a 42/60 500kv brushless outrunner, 16x8 light electric wood propeller, 80A YEP ESC, Zippy compact 4000mAh 5S 25C LiPo with XT-90 connectors. Flying weight is 2.5kg.
All in all this is a well designed and finished kit. It is a good size at 57" (1450mm)
The build was straight forward and the end result is very pleasing. It can be set up mild or wild, with good manners in most conditions. I can recommend this kit to all modellers wanting a well priced, 3D capable aerobatic model with good presence in the air.

this is a great plane, well built, light but strong.
awesome flight performance, hard to beat. stall is a non issue.
you name the manoeuvre and this can do, it helps with the huge control surfaces.
my set up is heavy ! with a 50-60 outrunner turning a 17x10 apc with 8s 4000 (3100gms auw) but is able to all but the real tight stuff.
a 50-45 on 5 or 6 cell would be plenty but I used what I had.
well done HK...

Build quality is pleasing. It flies faster on a 5-S.motor - AHi 2826/12 gold line. The controller 100 a. Screws 13 * 6 WOOD. In flight, a very predictable. Low speed on landing. I'm happy. Among the shortcomings. Ruder wheel mechanism fails to remove the slack.

Very nice kit indeed! I've bought this plane a few days ago and i've to be honest, i was a little afraid that it will arrive with missing or broken parts...but it was perfect. Very well packed and all the parts needed where inside the box. I'm still building it but it's a really nice plane and i can see it flying already heehhe! Awesome! Maybe it was luck but i'm really happy with Hobbyking so far. As soon as i make the first flight i will post some pics and maybe a video!
