he ESC has probably wrong/incorrect capacitors mounted causing explosion. After first ESC explosion i recorded video to show the problem using 2nd ESC.

Really poor build quality. Surface mount technology not mastered at all : a lot of bad solder joints and misaligned components almost touching each other.

I tested it on the ground and :
- heavy kick at startup, really not soft at all start even in very soft mode.
- gets extremely hot after 30s at 30A

I think at least half of the FETs are dead.

I will never use this in a model aircraft, this controller is UNRELIABLE by construction.

Works great but programming with the audio tones a little frustrating, would recommend buying the programming card at the same time.

Looks good, can be programmed with card, no problem, works fine during setup.

Had 2 times engine stops, look as reciever interference, but during the 4th flight, 3 times engine of, and no power, smells burnt out.
During loosen the ESC, one cable came loose, looks like a cold solder joint, bad quality of soldering, one FET is burned out

I've used this ESC in two of my hexacopters using 5S batteries.
I had many problems as the ESC was shutting down intermittently even the power consumption is max 6A per motor. After several crashes I discovered the ESC was always failing when I had used 5S batteries instead of 4S. Today during a test 2 of the ESC burned after few seconds. The ESC was powered with 22V.
I found a burned TC4421 MOSFET on the ESC.
This are the specifications of the TC4421:
The TC4421/TC4422 are high-current buffer/drivers
capable of driving large MOSFETs and IGBTs.
These devices are essentially immune to any form of
upset, except direct overvoltage or over-dissipation.
Wide Input Supply Voltage Operating Range: 4.5V to 18V

SO THIS ESC IS NEVER CAPABLE OF 5S and IT WILL IMMEDIATE BURN WITH 6S BATTERIES!!!

This ECS will burn when used with 5S battery!
I've used them in two of my hexacopters and both of them crashed after some time, always right after I started to fly with a fresh fully charged 5S battery.
On the ESC there is a MOSFET driver TC4421 and this burned out in two of my ESC. IF you read the datasheet for the TC4421, maximum voltage is 18V!
So be very carfeully and never use this ESC with more than 4S!
And HK please update the specs!

Nice 40A ESC. A little longer in dimensitions, than others but thinner...

Works ok with Turnigy 2826-2200kV outrunner on 4S and 5,4x4,5 prop. This setup powers my BF-109 Funfighter and gave grat top speed. Unfortunately esc gets quite hot (ca. 50C) with outside temperature below zero. There will be a problem in summer, if the model survives that long :)
