This receiver was specifically designed by OrangeRx with the FPV racer in mind. Although it is small and ultra-lightweight it has true diversity technology which is especially important for FPV racing. These racing conditions are far from ideal, low altitude, lots of obstacles, motors, and video transmissions in close quarters, situations where you need a robust reception.

This little receiver shrugs all this off to give you a good solid performance. It has been thoroughly tested in real flight tests and racing conditions many times by the manufacturer and a line of sight range of up to 750 meters has been achieved. This receiver is also ideal for use in airframes where there is a lot of carbon where the antenna can be in the shadow of the airframe. This receiver features the D16US/EU FrSky protocol which is auto-detect and 16 channel SBus technology.

The DD16n  has been tested and is compatible with these transmitters: FrSky Taranis X9D, X9D Plus, and Horus X12S. It is also compatible with the following: F1, F3, F4 flight controllers using Baseflight, Cleanflight, Betaflight, and Raceflight. Plus it is compatible with the KK2, MultiWii, and APM version 2 upwards.

• D16US/EU FrSky protocol (auto-detect)

Don't know yet

I have not been able to try this RX. Very disappointed to find that though it is made by Orange - it will not work with the Orange TX.

ACCST V1 only, can't bind to MPM...

May 27, 2021

Picked up a pair of these...
First - they are ACCST V1 only. If you have updated your radio to ACCST V2 you cannot use these. I have a couple of MPM-based radios which can speak both ACCST V1 and V2 they appeared to respond to the binding sequence but do not remain bound after power-cycling the receiver.
Second - because they are a custom board design you cannot simply flash the XM+ firmware onto these. It might accept the flash, but there will be no way to bind.
I can't speak to their range because I can't get them to stay bound! Lol.
$20 bux of e-waste. Avoid.

Ridiculous 100m range

Failsafe after only 100m line of site. Have no such problem before and after with an XM plus.

Great

Mar 12, 2021

Amazing! There's no need to worry about protocols, the auto-bind is super helpful! Because there is no bind button, it's easy to conformal coat for waterproofing also.
If an antenna breaks, you can just strip down the remaining wire and get to the receiving part and have a new, shorter antenna.
However, my rssi is very low even if I go +-200m away, I get low rssi warnings, but I've never had a failsafe and you can probably get >800m if you mount the antennas in a better way.

Doesn’t bind with x9d

Aug 10, 2020

These do not bind with a taranis if you have updated your taranis firmware. Hobby king we’re good and sent me another but that did exactly the same. After some research and posting my issues on YouTube others said they have the same problem once they update their taranis

Great flexible receiver good for aircraft as well

Jul 28, 2019

The big big advantage of this Rx is non fussiness about protocols. You do not have to worry about the Tx being US or EULBT just put both in bind mode and the rx binds. For aircraft you would have to use SBUS servos(like the Corona range)or a decoder (FRSky or Corona again).I have not tested the range but all my Orange Rx's have been excellent in this respect.Happy to see that this Rx is available in UK warehouse.Mine came from HK with usual problems of customs and service charges. No acknowledgement received so resubmitting
