There is always something about a large Bi-plane that appeals to RC pilots, they have real presence on the ground and a certain elegance in the air that is hard to match, this amazing large scale Pitts 12 is so impressive and you have to look really hard to tell that it is a foamy!

Of course it isn't any old foam, it's highly compressed EPO which not only gives the Pitts an almost balsa model look, it also means that it's as tough as old boots! There are so many impressive features on this stunning bipe, the under-carriage is heavy duty, full size servo's are pre-fitted for the rudder and elevator, the scale detail, the whopping 3 blade scale prop and spinner, the pre-fitted and very powerful brushless outrunner, the list goes on! The Pitts is easy enough to build and all hardware is included, you will need to add your own ESC & Lipoly to get into the air with this amazing looking aerobatic Bi-Plane.

The Pitts features huge wing joiners/tubes and fast assemble wing and tailplane rigging, once assembled it is very ridgid and it needs to be, this is a very capable aerobatic model! Power from the huge outrunner on 6s is really impressive and coupled with the amazing looks and performance of this huge foam Pitts 12, this is a model that will provide the RC pilot with a truly memorable days flying every time it goes to the field!

Great looking plane, most of the parts well finished and fit together well. One wing panel has a slight overspray of yellow colour which was disappointing. Plastic fittings and struts all fit well and seem strong.
Main issue that I have is the tailwheel assembly bag was missing and the rudder and elevator servos were really poor. Big std size servos that should have some grunt but were very weak, slow and would not centre. I certainly wouldn't use them in flight and replaced them with servos I had in the bits box.
Prop and undercarriage could be lighter and I will replace those over time with a carbon U/cart and an lighter prop/spinner assembly to save 1/2 to 3/4 lb in weight.
Lots of power and thrust from the stock motor and prop on a 6s, 4000mah battery and the prop balanced easily with only a bit of balancing tape on one blade.
Can't wait to fly when the weather lets up and if the few issues were sorted this would be a 5 crown model easily.

Follow up on pitts upon closer inspection found left hand top wing to be 15mm thicker than right top, be interesting to see how it fly's as left side will generate more lift than right side.

Looks good, several parts missing, upper and lower wings don't line up a definite lean to the right. vast majority of holes filled with glue. holes for vertical stab don't line up. needs a lot of work to sort out it's problems for the price a brand name would be a better choice.

I bought PITTS and I am disgusted lacked substantial Dili wings
I had a problem to put it together when I laboriously put into a pile and burned my flight engine
servos for elevator and rudder I had to put new center did not hold.
So my plane came to a nice penze.Dal I HITEC servos, motor AXI.
I'll buy the bare aircraft. for $ 260 it's expensive.

poor Manual:
small Pictures only in black & White.
cannot Mount the tail wheel like it is described in the Manual, because it seems to be a different construction.

the lock of the canopy is poor

and the worst:
there were essential parts missing (Mounts for the upper wing) and it took me several mails to get hk to send me the missing parts (2 items were missing and they originally only wanted to send me one!!!!)

Then the big surprise: they declared the package with the spare parts with the same value of the plane so i had to pay taxes for missing parts!!!

the Support is poor, hk answeres with Long delays and you have to take photos of everything, it is really not very customer friendly.

So pleas everybody who has some Problems with missing items Keep an eye on what they declare!!!

The Pitts 12 is impressive as it is a big model.
The plane comes well packed in a huge box, all components required to assemble the plane where present and accounted for, although you dont get a pilot.
The fit of the parts is not a good as other name brand kits but most parts go together ok.
Access to the battery tray is a little awkward as it is right up under the wing, but not impossible. All provided servos are pre-installed and work well. The tail wheel arrangement needs work though.
With the supplied prop and a 6S 5000 battery the motor pulls 105amps at full throttle so the recommended 120amp speedy is a must. The planes take off on throttle and cruses on . I replaced the prop with a 2 blade APC 15x8 motor now pulls about 48amps at full tilt. (Supplied 3 bladder is 16 x 8)
Plane has good prance in the air, loops and rolls are scale like and it will slow down to a walking pace for landings without effort.
Paint work and decals could be better and the foam is easily damaged in transport. Main gear is very stiff. Inter plane struts and a bit ordinary and the flying wires are essential.
Over all a pretty good model!

The fuselage, wings ok. Accessories too imprecise, difficult and poor quality. Very much needed adjustments and exchanges to complete the model. I'm not very demanding customer and a "low" price, do not expect a miracle, but for this product HobbyKing disappointed. Yet I wonder for years .... Sorry HK, but 200 for a fragment of EPO is a lot of motor.
