    HobbyKing 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm PLA 1KG Spool (Coffee)

    HobbyKing have come out with a huge new range of 3D Printer Filaments at prices that will have you printing all day and all night.

    The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.05mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.

    PLA:

    PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. PLA is considered stronger than ABS but is more susceptible to cracking when subjected to flexing, impact or torsional loads so the mechanical needs of the print project need to be evaluated.

    PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short a great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead, and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl free print.

    The Worst Ever

    I have bought a lot of filament over the years, including some good PET-G from Hobbyking. I can honestly say that this is THE worst PLA I have ever used. Poorly wound on an odd shaped reel, with VERY inconsistent uniformity. AVOID, AVOID , AVOID.

    Coffee or chocolate maybe and ...

    Ok so I got a second roll and to my surprise it is a bit different that other colors of HK brand filament. It melts and bonds very well at a lower temperature 220C vs 235C and it might work even lower. At slower print speed it gets very glossy and cools very well on prints with hot spots which usually sag. Great cold bed adhesion minimum shrinkage and warping. This could be my next go-to filament!

    More like aubergine

    Like most of the low budget filaments this one also prints quite easy. At 210 degrees Celcius with a 0.4mm nozzle, bed temperature at 50 degrees Celsius and a flow rate of 60mm/sec it prints very smooth. Only thing is that the color is more a dark purple like aubergines than coffee brown.

    Coffee - who doesn't like coffee?

    Ok I don't drink it but coffee ice cream yeah once in a while. Filament is a dark brown slightly transparent color, now if it smelled like coffee you might sell more of it. Is there any doubt that it will print great just like the other HK filament?
