HobbyKing 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm PLA 1KG Spool (Yellow)

HobbyKing have come out with a huge new range of 3D Printer Filaments at prices that will have you printing all day and all night.

The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.05mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.

PLA:

PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. PLA is considered stronger than ABS but is more susceptible to cracking when subjected to flexing, impact or torsional loads so the mechanical needs of the print project need to be evaluated.

PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short a great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead, and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl free print.

3D printing is a fun and exciting hobby with a wide range of uses from prototyping parts to making toys for the kids. Picking the right filament for your application is very important.

Great filament, awful colour

Jan 24, 2017

I have run about 300g of this filament through my printer (Wombot Exilis) and I have been super pleased with it so far. The parts have all come out strong and well formed with a 60C bed temp and ~210C extruder temp. No issues with bed adhesion so far. Haven't tried any overly complex prints yet but for the money it is a spectacular deal. To compare, previously I have used Aurarum and ESUN brand PLAs and this competes quite well, maybe not quite as nice as the Aurarum but it's also half the price!

HOWEVER! In my opinion this particular colour is fairly hideous. I was expecting it to be closer to a natural/light-brown colour based on the picture, but instead I feel it is best described as off bile yellow. The rest of the HK brand filament I ordered appears true to the colour on the website, so I am certainly not complaining. Just think twice if you are looking for a natural brown colour like I was :)
