Portable battery operated Soldering iron

May 02, 2019

It is a very cheep soldering iron, BUT it is good value for money. Unfortunately, the batteries does not last long , but it was ideal to patch up a broken cable temporarily in the field.

Not good, bought this soldering iron, added in new batteries yet it didn't even get hot enough to melt the solder! I tried with brand new batteries sevral times.

This soldering iron works great for quick jobs. Isn't very hot but great for tinning wires. The soldier that came with it is terrible. Once it flashes once it's melting point jumps way up. Buy with confidence.

Definitely worth a spot in the toolbox (leave 1 battery out til you use it so they don't leak obviously). For $3 it's decent quality build and simple, push switch on and hold button. Cap also has power button lock feature. To be exact it took close to 45 seconds to reach full temp, not really a gripe until you remember that you gotta be holding the button to keep it heated so that's only 4 star for quality. But I have strong hands and I re spliced fine wires in my media player

Not completely useless, but comes pretty close. Heats up rather fast, but soldering tip is ELQ (Extra Low Quality) which means that only a small part of the tip melts the solder. This probably is a hit or miss situation - some tip are good, some tips are bad. You can solder with it, but that's it. Don't buy for precision soldering. If you need more power: go to 6V (tried it - probably shortens life span) or get the 30W iron.
