Cheaper Than Making My Own!

Dec 11, 2008

I use to make my own prop savers. But when you add up the cost of the aluminum, the screws, the o-rings, and the time it takes to make them...it makes these a VERY good buy!

I usually add some of these to every order that still has a few grams left in my shipping bracket. They only weigh 3g!

I have had two of those. Also problems with the screws. The head get stripped. The screws will get loose on moisture conditions and if water will get inside the prop saver.

Also... file your prop hub edges! I used an 8x3 -E APC prop with this and the sharp edges on the prop hub cut right through the black ring after several days! However, you can use cheap rubber bands looped back & forth around the screw heads, hey... it WORKS!

The first 2 reviews are totally accurate! Plus is that it saved an 8x3 E APC prop about 8x now! Negative is that the screw stripped the threaded hole in the hub. The fix would be to run a 10-40 tap in there with cutting oil and replace screw.

As stated above: Trim your motor shaft, mount this right against the bell housing and file a flat in the shaft for the setscrews to settle into.
