Description

The all new Quanum Q-3D is a high performance, 3-Axis brushless camera gimbal that is designed for use with the GoPro Hero 3 and Quanum FPV+ cameras on 350~500 size multi-rotor models (such as the Quanum Nova, Scout X400, TALI H500, QR X350 PRO and DJI Phantom).

When it comes to a great aerial video platform, a few things are key; design, size, weight and performance. The Q-3D is a design that has been optimized from the start for proper integration, saving on size and weight and the pre-tuned controller performs just as you would expect from Quanum.

The Q-3D is one of the smallest and lightest 3-axis brushless gimbals on the market. At just 110mm tall, it can clear most multi-rotor landing skids and only weighs 185g, perfect for 350~500 sized multi-rotors. Both pitch and roll can be adjusted on the fly from an R/C channel and has a huge operating voltage range of up to 28 volts.

The Q-3D is pre-tuned from the factory, requiring no setup, simply bolt on to the bottom of the Quanum Nova, Scout X4, QR X350 PRO or DJI Phantom, install your GoPro Hero 3/Quanum FPV+ camera and you're ready to shoot professional stabilized aerial video!

Features:
• Lightweight yet duable aluminum construction
• Compact size
• Adaptable to most 350~500 size multi-rotor models (direct fit for Nova, Scout X4, TALI H500, QR X350 PRO and DJI Phantom)
• Pitch and roll control inputs
• Support for the GoPro Hero 3 video aux output
• Huge input voltage support (7.4~28V)
• Power supply voltage reverse connection protection and voltage compensation
• Motor drive side short circuit protection
• Initial pitch angle
• Sensitivity parameters adjustment

Specs:
Operating voltage: DC 7.4V~28V (recommended 12V, 3S Li-Po battery)
Operating current: 500mA~600mA (depends on the voltage supplied and motor power)
Operating temperature: -15°C~65°C
Sensor: 3-axis MEMS gyro and 3-axis MEMS accelerometer
Control accuracy: 0.02°
Angle control range: -135°~90°(tilt); -45°~45°(roll)
Applicable camera: iLook / iLook+ / GoPro series / Tunigy ActionCam
Weight: 188g (without camera)
Dimension: 114.3x97.5x106.6mm
Box dimension: 150x127x98mm

While this thing is cheap, I think it's borderline lying trying to call it a 3 axis gimbal when one of the axis is not controllable from a transmitter. That is a minor annoyance compared to the power this thing pulls versus what the documentation says. The documentation states a power draw a bit over half an amp. I have tested this thing and it pulls twice that during normal operation and with NO vibration of any kind affecting it. I have to get a bigger regulator just to feed this thing while it sits on my quad.

Ok given it's just a Walkera G-3D etc you'd think that Hobbyking would A. Release the USB tool and B. The firmware that Walkera did to move roll - yaw. You'd also presume that they'd have bothered to 'check' their product given the 'Passed' Sticker on it right? Nope missnig the counter weight in my box, also noticed that the yaw axis has not been properly calibrated sits 3-8 degree's off axis..

For the price Hobbyking it's a poor effort. You can buy better, more functional gimbals cheaper!

This gimbal is crap, is deprogrammed every time I turn it on, I have to set the gains in each flight, and also now worth $ 316.77 a lot, in the market there are other better and much cheaper. I not recommend it, unless you want to problems do not buy it.

I want to be as honest as possible with this review. Overall, this gimbal was poorly designed from the start and has several issues.

It's designed to work with GoPro's and I have a Hero3. However, due to the placement of the camera, attaching a USB AV cable is difficult to say the least.

You cannot not control yaw via an RC channel, but I was aware of this when I bought it. It's a minor inconvenience for me, but a bigger problem is how if you want to control pitch via an RC channel, you must also use another channel for roll stabilization. You cannot control just pitch as the roll channel floats and then eventually drifts. That is a pain.

Third, if you plan to use a different camera or add a filter, you must change power and gain settings every time you power up. Apparently, my gimbal does not save settings after I set them. Unfortunately, you would hope there was an easy USB connector to adjust settings via your computer, but you must buy a proprietary adaptor to do so. Why do this at all?

Fourth, vibration isolation to prevent camera jello is sub-par. Decent experimentation is needed even on a fully balanced rig.

Overall, I cannot recommend this gimbal despite it's low price. It's finicky and just wasn't properly designed to "make sense".

I can't give a proper rating for this, since I haven't been able to properly test it. The gimbal is by Quanum and claims to be compatible with the Quanum Nova, but neither the screws that came with the Nova, nor the screws that came with the gimbal can be used to attach the gimbal to the quad copter.
The Nova has four threaded holes for camera mount in a cross pattern. The sideways pair is M3 and the lengthwise pair appears to be M2.5. So the M3 screws that came with the gimbal don't fit and the M2.5 screws that came with the Nova are too short.
