So, you want a fast parkflyer!? All of the Funfighter range are truly ballistic, amazing fun, tough and brilliant value for money....but there is something special about the Rarebear. A firm favourite in the Hobbyking office, you will notice the lack of panel lining for a start, it's just built for speed! The Rarebear is of course a world famous Reno Racer and is a highly modified Bearcat, it is one of the fastest piston engined aircraft in the world. This Rarebear features a detailed canopy, pilot figure and the all important upgraded 4s Compatible ESC which means true 100 mph+ performance is possible with NO mod's & no extra outlay, just drop in a Turnigy 4s 850mAh~1000mAh pack and prepare to be impressed!

The combination of the light weight EPO airframe, a high power brushless motor and a simple aileron and elevator setup place these models amongst the most exhilarating park flyers to hit the market this year. Dont be left out of the fun!

This model comes plug and fly and only requires a few minutes of assembly time and flies like its on rails thanks to the one piece molding technique used in the construction. All you will require to have the Rarebear in the air is a 3~4S 850mAh 20C Lipoly battery and your own transmitter and receiver (Tx/Rx), see the attached video for some 3s & 4s flight footage and some info regarding the ESC Mod that we at Hobbyking insisted on.

well packaged.didn't realise how small this plane was when I bought it. tiny! flew on 3cell for the maiden. plenty of speed.when I landed the motor fell out. looked to be hot glued in. not very well mounted at all. the horns on the wings are only surface glued and come off easy. buy an efx and get a good plane!

Fantastic fun, 3s 1300 or 4s 850. Balance prop and spinner, and or upgrade. Stock prop is fine but 5.5x6.5 prop works well. Watch out for torque roll on launch. Half throttle hard and level launches are fine. Fast, yes! Also slow enough to fly around your head. Use rates; a few mm on ailerons but most of elevator travel. My CG on wing hole marks needs some up elevator, a mm or less for level flight. My full up is just short of rudder.

Expect a little damage on arrival. By post that is. Landing is easy, and broken prop rare.

I have two stock 77 which still perform faultlessly. Posted a pic of the tattiest with new colours after mid-air and ca/hot water rebuild. 77 decals eventually peeled - after two years in Chile sun.

Youtube and rcgroups will convince you that that you need one, maybe three!

Issues after the box arrived perfectly in tact:

Cowl dented inwards & kinked:
Motor mount critically mis-aligned:
Horns not secured:
Decals pealing off fuselage:

Action requested: compensation for work to remedy all of these careless faults. For a 5 crown product this is terrible manufacturing QC and I am surprised and disappointed with this.
Action in case invalid: doesn't arise as I will not be sending it back.

Very nice plane. Added some fillets with Welders cement to all control horns and motor mount and a small piece of foam between battery and motor to protect batt. from puncture. Rx in rear for CG. Trimmed a little foam from canopy tab to aid in sliding in.

People are not lying when they say this is the best fun per dollar you can get in this hobby! I had an absolute blast with my rarebear, honestly i took the wings clean off the fuselage 3 times with crash landings (not the plane's fault!) and it was easily repairable with epoxy and carbon fiber rods each time. It eventually met its grave in a very tall tree, and when i came back the next day with a ladder it was gone :(. I can't recommend it any higher, buy one! I'll be buying another for sure. Outrageously fun plane to pilot for anyone who would consider themselves intermediate or higher (i was probably a little too amateur for the Rarebear at my time of purchase and i still made do, it flies amazingly well).

The Rarebear is honestly some of the most fun "per dollar" i've had in my life. It's incredible that it's available for the price it is, and like all the other reviews say it flies spectacularly. If you're an intermediate pilot and looking for something to get your adrenaline pumping, you've got to check out the Rarebear.

Only can give 4 stars. Even though they say the fixed the Esc issue I still recieved a Hobbywing Sky Walker ESC capable of 2-3s lipos. I had ordered a 4s battery for the faster option to bad Hobbykings quality control is piss poor. Also a pain to get it replaced

"Box" holding two of these was just a bunch of cardboard taped together with literally a roll of packing tape. Arrive undamaged, but finish of the plane was ridiculous. Decals were a joke - looks like they were cut and installed by a 4 year old. Elevator clevis broke immediately when installing and had to be replaced. "Recommended" 4S 850 doesn't fit without hogging out foam. Canopy doesn't fit without forcing it, and does not sit flush. To install the canopy you jam it under the cowl, then slide back to engage a tab in the back. Two tiny canopy magnets are installed but can't possibly do any good, though hooking under the cowl and fuse seems solid, though clunky and will eventually strip the decals from the canopy. Haven't maidened it yet - hopefully I'll forget about the negatives once I get it in the air.

the plane is built very well, the control horns are not to be trusted, the second flight i lost elevator just before landing, (landed safe) it is very fast on 3 cell and have not flown it yet on 4 cell.
they sent mine with the wrong esc but made it right with a new one on the way now.
it is a very good value for $100.00, but remember to change or beef up all the control horns.
as with every plane i have bought from HK the cg is off, it calls for 30mm and should be at 45mm from leading edge.
to get the cg 45mm you have to put the esc beside the servo in the rear of the plane.

this is a fantastic little plane.i cannot believe how fast it goes and great value for money.BUT! it should not be called a park flyer.this thing can cover the length of a football field in less than 4 seconds, you need a wide open space for it or a huge park.also it is not a plane for a beginner.it looks small and tame but it goes like a rocket so get a bit of experience under your belt before you fly this one.
