The Saab Draken was a remarkable aircraft that was designed as a high speed interceptor in the early days of the Cold War, the origins of the J-35 can be traced back to the early 1950's, which bearing in mind it's unique double-delta wing and supersonic performance, makes the Draken extremely advanced for it's time. Other unique features of the J-35 were it's ability to operate off ordinary roads instead of large airfields and it's deliberatley designed operational simplicity which allowed ground crews with minimal training to keep the aircraft at readiness day and night. The Draken was also an export success and this fantastic looking model is in the display colours of the Austrian Air Force.

This nicely finished kit has a low parts count courtesy of the basic shape of the Draken, with only 2 outer wings and a vertical stabilizer to attach, it is not the most complicated composite jet to build by a long way! Controls are of course elevon and rudder, so the servo count is also low, a comprehensive hardware kit is included, as is a 90mm EDF unit, the model comes with fixed under-carriage but can easily be converted to retracts. The distinctive paint scheme is finished off by the nice quality waterslide decals that are included and for the final scale touch, we have a full scale cockpit and pilot available (not included - see related products) that have been specifically designed for this model.

The Draken offers the stability of a delta wing with potentially excellent performance with the right set up and both on the ground and in the air the J-35 looks simply breathtaking. This nicely priced ARF offers a relatively simple & inexpensive build for a composite 90mm jet and this stunning Swedish fighter it is a must for all fans of Cold War era jet's!

Eventially got to try it out with 1700w metal fan and 6s. It never looked like it would leave the ground after 45m of smooth artificial runway. Would surgest at least 8s for this. Mine has had the fan and 4000 6s and wheels removed and is awaiting suitable weather to be tried as pss glider.

Once again dissapointed with kits from HK China. The box wass'nt big or strong enough resulting in crushed nose and exhaust pipe. In addition there were numerous broken internal plywood parts which sugests they are not checked before sending out. I'm not the first to say this by a long way but when will HK learn how to pack models securley. As for me this was the last straw, no more purchases from HK China. That apart the model is excelent and I look forward to building/flying it.
