If you've ever lost a plane or a quadcopter, you know how frustrating it is to look for it. Screamy is like no other lost model alarm before; it has an integrated backup battery in case main power is lost and 5 methods of triggering, including an automatic low-voltage alarm. Screamy is smart insurance that protects your aircraft from becoming lost.

Dragon Avionics developed the Screamy to be compact, light, and Loud. Most important is the ability to be triggered in virtually all unplanned situations your RC craft may experience. The small coin-sized alarm integrates easily into most systems, even little 250 racers. The first line of defense is its auto-detect low voltage alarm letting you know when it’s time to land, Second is triggering via an extra RC channel switch. Third, if the Screamy loses its PWM/PPM/Sbus signal, it will trigger e.g. a crash that disconnects main power will cause it to trigger. Forth, a one-hour timer will start to sound even if no other condition is triggered. The main feature that sets the Screamy apart is its battery backup, letting it scream away for up to 3 days in the event it’s disconnected/ejected from the aircraft.

The Screamy is a smart, feature-packed, compact lost model alarm that is smart insurance for your model.

Works as advertised. 5 day beep time, works on its own power, on board charger that tops itself off from the models power. Cheap insurance against losing a model.

It only has a little microwave oven beeper in it. Use that as a reference to the sound it makes, not loud at all. However that is useful in tall grass if you are nearby (20feet max I'd say) and you'll be glad you have it. It has a has nice set of functions and contains it's own battery so it can beep all on it's own in case of a horrible crash.

My Screamy just arrived in the post and is not loud. I can hear it from about 20 meters away if the wind is not blowing. Great idea but so far not well executed.

8-5-15: I purchased one Screamy based on the "Daily Video" by Hobby King's Cris. The device is, as one customer said, "better than nothing". However, printed specifications for hearing the Screamy's alarm are dead wrong. At a normal-to-quiet flying field, when the only noise is the wind, birds, and insects, the Screamy can ONLY be heard from 50' to 100' away. And, I'm talking about the device being surface-mounted on the aircraft, AND with the transducer not muffled by grass or weeds, AND with the transducer "pointed" at me. That being said, our club field in DuPage County, Illinois, is SO OVERGROWN with thorns and heavy brush, that even this weak noisemaker is better than walking right past something that's within a stone's throw. So, it's not loud at all, but the basic concept of an internal battery is good. Better luck next time.

For FPV I felt that this was a critical piece of insurance. I have spent many hours in the field over the past couple of years looking for my plane or a buddy's plane.

We have tried the regular alarms, but when the battery gets ejected, you lose all alarms and video and gps. The concept of having an alarm with a built in battery thrilled me.

They claim 600 ft or 200 meter range of hearing this. This is impossible. The beeper on this is weak. If a stronger beeper was installed, I would give this the highest rating. However, my guess in the real world, the range that you would hear this is 50 yards/meters. In the real world of corn fields, trees, grasses and other obstructions you will need to be pretty close to hear it. However it is better than nothing. Hobby king used to sell a lost model alarm that was much louder, but I can no longer find it on their site.

For now, I will be using 2 lost model alarms, one of the older loud ones and the scream.

I purchased 3 and I will be trying the low voltage buzzer modification on one.

This is a shame as this would be something that I would recommend for all FPV fliers. Losing a plane in a field or the woods is costly. Adding a louder beeper would make all the difference in this product.

It is not a "screamy"! Very quiet sound. It is quieter than a buzzer which was sold with my flight controller. I'm totally disappointed.

Same here.... bought the alarm when it first put on sale. Unfortunately, it fails my expectation of hearing it even at 3 meter in the grass. What gives Hobbyking? 200 feet? Come on man... this is misleading...

I agree with all the reviewers...I can't hear 'screamy' in the next room! You'll never hear this outside. I had to turn the volume way up on the video to even hear it. I can't believe he would claim it is loud enough to be heard 1/8 mile away with a straight face. Not very credible. Don't waste your money.

Good idea poorly executed - the alarm sound is very weedy ! - I doubt it could be heard more than 20metres max in a very quiet environment, less in normal situations.
Such a disappointment...

Screamy? Woot? The beeper is quieter than a normal piezo beeper (which you usually attach to FC). It's like a beep from pocket calculator.

VERY misleading.
