I need another iron because the one I had before was not getting hot enough. This one has a knob to change the heat setting. The tip if very sharp which is a plus.

Picked up a pair of these this past week. I was adequately impressed with the performance for general soldering tasks, but when put to task on soldering something with significant mass, I was disappointed that it couldn't keep up. Looking at the owner's manual, I realized that this iron is capable of producing only 45 Watts of power. The website information, stating that it 'consumes' 60W is irrelevant information.

The iron is OK for small to medium tasks. It works perfectly Hakko tips. But, it isn't as powerful as I'd like for soldering large gauge wires.

We will see how long it lasts... Fingers are crossed.

Definitely a very low quality iron, the nipple ring broke in half after 2 weeks of very light soldering. I tried supergluing it back together, but it only lasted another week. Going to have to get a genuine iron to replace.

Seems to work well. Rather slow heat up and cool down. The nipple ring broke not long after I got it with some light soldering. I managed to superglue the break and it worked for another week and broke again. Have to order a genuine hakko soldering iron to replace the broken one. Probably would not buy again.

Beautiful soldering iron..

This Soldering Iron will allow you to make approximately 10 joints, then the tip will ionize and become unusable. Get a nice quality soldering iorn though.

Very very good iron, especially for the money. Do get some new tips for it though if you're going to get this iron, because the tip that comes with it is not great for most work. With an appropriate chisel tip and some good flux, this handles deans (and just about anything else you throw at it) with no issues. Really happy with it! I think it is one of the best investments I've made. Even if I had paid twice as much, I'd still be happy.

Used it for a total of an hour or so then the handset smoked a lot (not just from the tip but all through the metal part) and then started to melt. Metal part is now at an angle from the handle.

I purchased this station in June of 2015. Since then I have soldered everything from 8g wired lipos to 24g servo lead wires. I have made light harnesses and even repaired one of my lipo chargers that had a short at the plug input. This was and is the best rc investment I've made lol. I only gave the quality 4 stars because the iron does feel a bit cheap to use and mine comes unscrewed at times when I'm doing something that requires a ton of heat. This is because the screw on cap is plastic. I would reccomend this as at least a spare setup to have if you just don't trust it as your main rig.
