The EPO construction & pre-applied decals are all excellent quality, in fact as you are assembling the Stinger your confidence grows with it, everything is just "right". Assembly time is really fast, the servos, EDF & ESC all being pre-installed. The aileron servo arms are protected by covers, there are hand launch pockets molded into the under-wing, really strong magnets for the canopy & a nice clean battery bay where everything fits just so, this jet has been really well thought out.
The Stinger MK2 looks great and manages to fly even better! There is a servo per elevator and of course it has an effective rudder as all Sport Jets should. All of the servos are metal geared and are mounted at the rear with short control rods, the end result is precision. Although this jet features a powerful new 4S EDF system and can tear up the skies when you want, it's not just all about full throttle...it has a large flight envelope and is quite happy flying at low speed, ultra stable and ultra predictable. This makes the Stinger MK2 ideal for the budding jet pilot, but wind it up and it becomes a brilliant aerobatic model! Jet aerobatics always look exciting and there is nothing the Stinger MK2 can't do and almost effortlessly. Today the Stinger MK2 was great fun in 25+ knots of wind, no problems, just great fun to fly.
Advice: Fit a battery alarm, at full throttle 3 mins max with 4S 2200 batteries, 4-5 minutes if you are not full throttle. This Model requires intermediate to expert skill to fly.This is a great jet...I've had alot EDFs mostly 64mm and 70mm. This one for me tops the cake. Build is so simple and thing flies like on rails. I took off the short grass no landing gear. She pulls up nicely and flies like an arrow! landings are good too. I like the plastic protection on the bottom of the wings and at the end of the plane to protect it from belly lands/take-offs nice touch. Using a ZIPPY Flightmax 1800mAh 4S1P 40C get over 4 mins 5 if flying sedately. beautiful flyer!! Glad got it when was on sale 5/5 jet! Love the color scheme too!This plane is fantastic, exciting to fly and nice and fast, flies like its on rails. I have a 7 blade fan in mine and get just over 3 mins flight time. I am running 40% on ail and elev with 30% expo, rudder is at 50% with 20% expo. Also flies well at half throttle but its great fun doing some full gas low passes with a wing tip dipped as you pass!Easy to build, just one piece to glue. Weight all ready to fly but without battery 526gr. It's even uglier in real life than on the pictures. What were they thinking with those colours. Well. Good linkages, and all servos worked, as did the EDF, no need for balancing it. Servos "creeped" a little to reach the final position, so no high-quality servos, but that was not expected. Easy to launch, it almost has 1:1 thrust-to-weight ratio, but not quite (witha Turnigy 65C 2250mAh). Requires quite a lot of elevator in turns to maintain height. Very sensitive on ailerons, had 60pcnt DR with 40pcnt expo, still very sensitive. Not so sensitive on rudder and elevator. The plane is quite fast but not anything extreme, the EFX Racer is a lot faster. Definitely not a beginner plane. Got too low after a few rounds and put it in the ground nose first, so that was that. Won't buy another. Minus one star for the so-and-so servos and the looks, but the plane design in itself is really good, with one servo per control surface and short linkages, and the ease to put it together and to reach the EDF for service.I've had 6 good flights on this aeroplane and everyone at the club loves it. I launch it more or less vertically on full throttle and that makes life easy. It is quite fast. Third flight, I crashed it into the top of a tall thorn hedge, breaking the wings in half. With a little help from my friends we had it glued back together and flying again later that afternoon: really cool. Very hard to fault it. Getting the 2200mah 4s battery to fit required some hard work enlarging the space with a rasp.Ok so i had bad luck with this Jet at first, But after I got the right set up with it, i have to say, Im in love with the jet now! With some wind, I can hit speeds over 100mph very low to the ground now! A tip for anyone wanting to start off with this as a first jet . My settings for throws and Expo is as followed.
Aileron 60pcnt throw and 40pcnt expo
Elevator 100pcnt throw and 34pcnt expo
rudder 100pcnt throw and 35pcnt expo
It does take some experience to fly this bad boy, but with these settings, its flying super smooth and you can come in nice and tight for a close high speed pass to wow the crowd!!!This is a fantastic plane, my first jet and I love it. I'm running it stock with a turnigy 2200mah 4s 35c lipo, i'm getting about 4 minutes flight time. I have had it clocked on radar at 106mph that was my fastest past on 3rd run. I have now added the wheel's which slow it down a lot and alter the amount of elevator throw you need, but apart from that it's a great plane.Finally got the chance to maiden her. All stock. I left the elevator/rudder at 100pcnt, the ailerons were set to 50pcnt w/ 25pcnt expo. HK Nanotech 2200 4s. This was so much fun, I kept it on the pipe the whole time. Well worth the price :)
