The Stinson Reliant was a popular single-engine four to five seat high-wing monoplane manufactured by the Stinson Aircraft Division of the Aviation Manufacturing Corporation of Wayne, Michigan. Originally a straight wing, the first Reliants had a wing of constant chord which was supported by two struts each. In contrast the taper wing Reliant had the broadest chord and thickness of the wing at mid span, with the outer wing trailing edge heavily angled forward and a rounded cutout on the leading edge root, all supported by a single strut. The taper wing had a significant step up between the fuselage and the wing, and the changes in wing thickness gave it the distinct gull appearance the SR-9's are famous for.
Our sport scale model follows the outline of a SR-9 with the airframe built of balsa and plywood covered in plastic film faithfully reproducing the classic trim scheme of the full scale. The two piece plug in wings are supported by a beefy wing tube. Accessing the wing bolts and fuel tank couldn't be easier with scale hinged side doors. We even include the scale entry ladders. Large flaps slow the model down nicely for smooth, scale wheel landings. A pre-painted fiberglass cowl and LED navigational light set rounds out the model nicely.
Coming as an Almost-Ready-to-Fly model, all you need to do is complete the final assembly, install your engine and electronics, and fly. A couple easy evenings of work and you'll be out flying the SR-9.
