Description

The ever popular Trooper is back with a bang! The latest addition to the Trooper series of 4 x 4 SCT's the "Pro edition" features new SCT wheels, aluminum shock absorbers, a whole host of hardened alloy drive train, support plates and chassis components as well as an all new polycarbonate bodyshell design and re-designed front and rear diffs to make this the best Trooper to-date!

The Trooper Pro comes pre-assembled and will have you ready to rule the competition in no time at all! All you will need is your own transmitter, receiver and LiPo battery. The 60A ESC is equipped with a bigger fan to keep the running temperature to a minimum.

The aluminum motor mount includes cooling fins and a solid clamp style mounting system to ensure your truck will handle the rough stuff and keep coming back for more. The heavy duty metal drive shafts will keep putting the power down to the large 110mm short course truck tires. Traction to all four wheels is maximized via the three oil filled differentials (front/center/rear) providing race-ready handling.

The updated SCT 4x4 now includes proper short course style racing wheels, taken from the previous limited edition Nitro Circus SCT, new softer compound tires for increased traction and improved handling, a newly designed, aggressively styled body shell, also borrowed from the Nitro Circus SCT, full hardened alloy shocks, alloy chassis braces and super tough steel spur gear.

The Trooper Pro's suspension system is fully adjustable so you can fine tune the truck to the conditions of your favorite track or bashing spot. The innovative and adjustable battery compartment will accommodate a wide variety of different sized packs for longer run times.

Features:
• All new aggressively styled bodyshell design
• Re-designed front and rear diffs
• Hardened alloy shock bodies, chassis braces, drive shafts with steel spur gear

Now I have had her on the sand track and against other cars ... on 3S it proved to be competitive as long as no long straits for speed. Manoeuvrability - it needs a touch more steering throw, but the car is well balanced and handles well. Its lack of outright speed allows you a better throttle range to run a winding track. It was up against Basher Sabres, Berserkers etc. and it ran well .... a good driver would actually place in a race.
One shock absorber bottom seal came undone - all oil escaped and shock shaft had slight bend. I screwed cap back and hardened up suspension all round ... she ran as if nothing wrong with that shock.
The wishbone front arms finally broke left front ... along with the bottom pin with clips. Something I do not understand - HK sell replacement pins but without the C clips !! To be honest - top and bottom pins would be better if through bolts + nuts instead of the pins. 3 x 55mm bolts suit. Also top shock attachment .. I think eventually I will have nut and bolt there as threaded into plastic is sure to fail after a while.
Shock oil is too thin if you are serious driver.
But - I am very happy with the car ... I was an Indoor Electric Car guy nack in the 80 - 90'
s ... but this off-road stuff is great fun. Our club is based on Rc Flying - but recently added cars to the mix ...

Received it in good condition. No damage at all.
Manual and car are not exactly same as the manual is for the RTR version and has different ESC / On-off Switch / Set switch.
Manual says 2 - 3 Cell Li-- ..... what does that mean ? LiPo or Life ? Two are completely different in voltage. 3S LiFe will give me 10.8V instead of 12.6V with LiPo ... and 8.4V on 2S LiPo .... hopefully ESC and motor will live well with LiFe 3S.
Running on 2S LiPo - car is on the slow side but manoeuvrability is good. Shocks out of box are bit on the soft side - but she ran well on road and grass.
The tyres show a lot of grip.
Overall I like the car - but want to get a bit more speed out of it ...
I'm running it with FS GT2E pistol radio and Hobby King 3ch AFDS-a Rx.
Only complaint really - I had to go buy kitchen brushes specially to clean it after a grass run ! It had crud everywhere inside and all over !

Overall it's a great 1:10 sct rc car. Though it's seriously underpowered with the low kv rating of the brushless motor. Tried running it on a 2s lipo and max speed I got was 21mph on my gps speedometer on 3s I squeezed it to 28mph. I'm ordering a new 3650 brushless motor of 3900kv that should give it some nice speed vs torque and bring out the true value of the car. Another minor is the central differential with the motor gear is completely exposed to the elements so will need regular cleaning if running in wet grass n mud.

I like the Trooper SCT 4x4. Instead of exchanging beat-up parts I decided to buy the Pro version at a flash sale. The diffs habe been improved, but the changed gear ratio made the SCT 15% slower! To be competitive to 3700KV 2S SCTs I did drive the non Pro version with 3S LiPo with mo problems. In the Pro I had to exchange the motor pininion from 14 to 17 teeth to get almost the same speed. Be aware that it is modul 1.0 pinion, but must have a 3,17 mm bore, not easy to get. The motor and ESC can handle 17 teeth at 3S without issues.

The leaking plastic shocks already have been an issue of the old trooper but the alu schocks of the Pro version lost oil already on the first run! That's disapointing. The stering mechanism ist still plasic.

The diffs got some grease only. When running on a track I recommend to fill the diffs with oil 50/50/30K to get more locking and traction.

Be prepared to have some recommended spare parts. These are lower suspension arms and pins and linkage ballends.

But nevertheless this SCT is is a great value for the money, especially when being on flash sale.

This is a very good car. Good quality. Enjoy to drive it a lot.
But... the spare parts are the darkside of this car. My son broke the font lower arm and now the car is sleeping in the garage because there is not lower arm even it exist in the owner manual. Hope Hobby king will read my review and do something quickly......
