Engine good quality. CDI XYZ failled after 3 flights. Turn prop 17x6 7300 RPM and 11.5 lb thrust. Same as DLE 20.
Deception with performance. As it is in breaking in, possible more thrust after 2 or 3 gallons of fuel. Installed in Phoenix Katana 120 and pulls O.K.

The TR-26HP-S engine is said 32cc on the engine box but if you calculate it's a 26cc (34mmx28mm). And also be aware that you need to buy a spark plug (NGK CM-6).
I'm writing a french translation of the manual for future french owner's.

Le TR-26HP-S est marqu comme tant un 32cc sur la bote mais si on fait le calcul c'est un 26cc (34mmx28mm). Il faut galement acheter une bougie pour le moteur (NGK CM-6).

I needed a replacement for a YS 91 and this engine weighed exactly the same at .75 kg. I mounted it on my plane and spun it with the starter to bring fuel to the carb, turned on the ignition and it popped first flip. I then turned off the choke and hit it with starter and it fired immediately. I made slight adjustments to the needle settings and went to my flying field. The performance was better than with the YS, especially in the vertical and it never missed a beat. I'm running it a little rich for the first few flights but all indications look like this is going to be an excellent engine. I'm using a 32:1 mixture for the first gallon then I will change to a 50:1 synthetic oil mixture.

Ordered the Turnigy 26HP-S engine Tuesday had it delivered to me in Northern Ireland by Friday excellent service. What a beautiful little engine the crankcase is CNC machined and the cylinder cast. The surprise was when I ran it, easy start smooth running and excellent throttle response. It is very important that the prop is balanced and a good fit on the crankshaft.
I was able to fit a Pitts type muffler I had to slightly elongate the mounting holes on the muffler which are 34mm centre hole the Turnigy is 33mm so by opening up the holes by 1/2mm each and reducing the head of the mounting bolts it fits perfect. If you don't have a lathe fit the bolt in an electric drill fit it in your vice run it up and reduce the size with a file it works if you don't have a lathe.

The Turnigy TR-26HP-S engine is without dought a great engine for the price, it runs well from start up without the need to worry to much about needle settings. After a short break in period, around 2 tanks or so of fuel and you have settled on your prop size adjusting the the needle settings will help your motor to run more smoothly. Other than that the enclosed manual will help you understand more. I'm running this engine on an old style T240 tug on a 17/8 and it's fine for my type of flying. A great little motor 5 star. If you need a less noisy exhaust contact ( Just Engines in UK ) they sell all types and one that fits this engine with 32mm exhaust port bolt centres.

Received this engine and put it on the test stand with a 16x8 (balanced) prop. Fired right up (after choking and a quick turn with the starter), ran great, but being a "glow" guy and this being my first gasser I was concerned with the vibration. Anyways, shut it down ad was idley flipping the prop (no power :-) ) I noticed a "rattle". If I held the prop and jiggled it back and forth I could hear OBVIOUS clicking and clacking like a bushing was bad (or missing) on the wrist pin or conrod. After discussing here I decided to get an RMA and send it back. Had store credit within a week.

Bought the same engine, received in a couple days. Repeated the testing. Ran a total of about 3 minutes and shut it down. THIS one seemed to rattle the crap out of the workbench - worse than the first engine. After shut down, jiggled the prop and the rattling was there again - on the new engine! I DID talk to a guy at the LHS and he had the same issue with another brand motor. He said once the engine broke in the noise went away.

So I figured, OK, let's just let it break in and see. The vibration was bugging me in the back of my mind. Was (again) idley flipping the prop when I noticed that the prop shaft seemed BENT. Took the prop off thinking it was messing with my eyes, turned the shaft and sure enough, the shaft was wobbling. So it's either bent or something wasn't pressed together right. Ei

I have fitted one of these into my YAK-55M. For my maiden flight I had a 16x8 prop fitted, but the YAK barley got off the ground. After a nail biting circuit with the engine running almost flat out just to keep aloft, I managed a safe landing. I subsiquantly changed the prop to an 18x8 which transformed the engine, it is now ideal for my level of sport flying.

Tuning the engine is a little time consuming, but once it is on song, it runs very smoothly. With the supplied exhaust, the engine is a little loud for my liking, but is still within our clubs limits. I am on the look out for a quieter exhaust.
