The Turnigy 30cc gas engine is an easy to tune, lightweight but strong motor. It has a CNC milled crankcase, CNC lathed crankshaft for smooth running and a computer controlled CDI ignition system that makes starting a breeze

This is no weed-whacker or modified scooter motor, it was built from the ground up to be a competitive R/C gas plane engine, because of this it has an excellent power to weight ratio, giving it the ability to be used for all sorts of reasonably large models.

This engine will suit most planes designed for 25~35cc engines. It is compact, light and will fit inside most cowls designed for these types of engines.

The exciting thing about gas motors such as this one is that they improve with age, giving increased power output. Treated well, these engines will last for many years.

Features:
• Japanese Walbro Carburetor which is easy to tune and has instant throttle response
• Lightweight and strong CNC milled crankcase
• Lightweight and strong CNC lathed prop shaft
• CDI electronic ignition system for easy starting

Specs:
Displacement: 30cc
Bore/Stroke: 34x28mm
Weight: 939g
Carburetor: Japanese Walbro diaphragm with butterfly valve and manual choke
Prop Speed: 1600~12,000rpm
Max power: 2.7HP/1.98kw
Suggested prop: 16x8, 17x8, 17x10 , 18x8, 18x10, 19x8
Ignition: CDI electronic ignition with auto advance (4.8~6V)
Mixture: Gas/oil mixture (25:1 for breaking in, 40:1 for general use)
Size: 120mm wide, 130mm high
Mount hole: 64mm x 64mm

Please note:
The engine is available in two colours Black & Silver. We are unable to guarantee the engine  will be either color.
All these engines are tested, tuned and broken in for 7 minutes at the factory and will smell of gasoline when you receive it, this is perfectly normal.

25cc not 30cc

Mar 15, 2022

This motor is falsely advertised. If you do the maths it is only 25cc not 30.
I'm keeping it because I have to pay the freight to return it. I don't know how the motor performs yet.
I give Hobbyking minus stars for their discretion.

Update Review

Feb 21, 2022

After cleaning off all the silicon from the carb gaskets, I fitted a NGK spark plug, hooked up my electric 12V starter to a 5S lipo, (man this thing is tight) primed the fuel lines and rotated the engine back and forwards to make sure the carb drawing fuel. She kicked more or less straight away with full choke, hit a bit of throttle which incidentally turns the choke off, hit the starter again and away she went. This thing runs really well, mixture screws were fairly well set from factory. Yeah, this motor had never seen fuel despite the description stated on HK site, but I am impressed. I have now run 2 tanks through it at 30:1 and improving all the time. Sure, bit rough around the edges but all in all pretty good! Bolted to my Stinson Reliant so looking forward to the maiden.

Mixed 1st impressions

Jan 10, 2022

Like others, silicon everywhere on carb gaskets, why would they?? Cleaned it off completely as it was smeared everywhere! Definitely not a Walbro but a fairly good copy. There is a tiny Rexcel logo on the ignition module so it’s anyones guess what brand it could be but hey for the price, worth a shot. Haven’t started it yet so fingers crossed.

Motor quality seems to be ok, but ignition quit while trying to start. Junk

Aug 21, 2021

Good price but ignition didn't work for more than 10 minutes. So I would say not worth the money.

Got a bad one

Jul 10, 2018

The fittings for the ball bearing were so tight, the bearings were hardly moving, so the crankshaft was getting REALLY hot. Performance was very bad, even less than the RCF 26. After about ten minutes, the ignition died. After about twenty minutes the magnet flew out.
Even after 3 hours of break in, handstarting was impossible.
