As Paul noted in his earlier review, the pin that moves the trunion is made of a very soft material. Mine also stripped after a few cycles.
Another issue, which contributed to the pin stripping, is that the pin butts up against each side. In most retracts, an open slot exists on each side to guide this pin. In this design, however, the slots are covered over with guides formed on the insides. As a result, the pin jammed against the insides and the retract refused to extend. I tried filing the ends of the pin down but its threads stripped thus negating any benefit.
A third issue is that the threaded rod that is turned by the motor to move the pin is not supported well on the end away from the motor. In other retracts, there is a set screw that has a circular well against which this threaded rod rests. The screw can be adjusted to ensure the rod is well supported without being jammed. In this design, there is simply a circular slot at the far end of the housing. It may be that the more intricate reduction gearbox negates the need for a set screw.
While the designers included bearings to support the trunion instead of a simple bushing as others do, there are too many other points where friction can cause problems.
My purchase has now been relegated to the role of spare parts for other retracts, where possible.

At first glance these retracts seem good quality and made from metal alloy.
Unfortunately there is a weakness in the design of a little aluminium peg inside that the motor winds in and out. The peg is very fragile and one of mine broke after just a few uses.
Fortunately for me, I have a lathe and managed to make a new one from steel which is going to be much stronger. Just a big hassle though as I'll probably have to replace the others too at some point.

Good points..... Good strong retracts that look great and work smoothly
Bad Points........Liable to brake little aluminium peg on motor driver due to design

This is a real heavy duty retract. It would easily support a 10-12 lb. model. Bought this as an aftermarket replacement for a 90mm EDF jet. The nose retract needs the flange for mounting on the upper side and not the lower side.
