Specs say it brings 520 RPM/V, with 5S battery I barely get 7.000 RPM W/14-7 APC type prop, very poor, hardly pushes my 1,9 kg plane, Im quite dissapointed, because I thought that with a 5S lipo I would do 3D ......

Be careful with the prop adapt

Nov 14, 2007

The prop adapter covers a decent portion of the front air holes. My motor did get quite warm running at 40 Amps with a 5S setup.

Also the aluminum threads on the prop adapter shaft strip easily so don't over tighten.

Turnigy e-drive 4020/06

Nov 14, 2007

.....WARNING...

Front prop adapter that screws on with 4 screws only has a 6mm SHAFT!!! far too small, I fear it will snap if throttled up too quick, and the base it is machined up off is 32mm!! heaps of room from mounting screw recesses. UH please have larger shaft made(10mm minimum)!

e-drives seem like solid motor

Nov 14, 2007

I ordered two e drive 4020/06's and one e-drive 2215/20.

I got the 2215/20 just fine but the two 4020/06's were replaced with two 4020/08's instead, HobbyCity fixed the problem in less than a week! I decided to keep the motors sent and have them refund my 5S packs so I could order 6S instead to make up the lost Kv.

The e-drive motors seem well built. The case is solid and simple as you can see in the picture. You will have to take care when mounting not to block airflow to the holes.

I'm using a Turnigy Plush 80A ESC.

Here are the specs on my 4020/08.

At no load with 11.6V they drew 1.5 Amps and I measured 470.2RPM/V

NOTE: the following are for the 4020/08!

Shaft is 6mm diameter

Shaft collar with set screw is 16mm diamter

Bell collar is ~14mm

Threaded holes are 30mm apart on the side with the wires

Threaded holes are 23.5mm apart on the bell side (NOT 25mm)

Case is 50mm in diameter.

Case length is 42.5 of which the bell is about 31mm.

I rigged up a 6S setup with a 15x8 APC prop. This was too much prop because I was able to hit 40 Amps just a little after half throttle and my batteries were not even fully charged. Very very nice power.

I should be have some more props coming in and I'll post results of those as well.

The motor and esc got a little warm but my temporary mount was blocking some of the air flow to through the motor.

The only problem is I get a small glitch that feels like the ESC is missing a phase at very low throttle

5S 32A 620 Watts

Master Airscrew 14 x 7 3 blade prop

4s 27A 450 watts

5S 37A 680 watts

Very poor hardware with this motor and casing is very thin.
