The Turnigy Marine waterproof speed controllers are packed with the latest technology and are up there amongst some of the best on the market today. These speed controllers have reached the ultimate IP67 level of protection (Ingress Protection), this is the standard that electronic devices are tested to. The 6 on the IP rating means it is "Totally protected against dust", the 7 on the IP rating means it is "Protected against immersion between 15cm and 1m.
The Turnigy Marine speed controllers are supplied with a "Copper Bar Heat Technology" water cooling system (exclusively patented) and extremely low internal resistance MOSFET's. Each one has specially designed software which features excellent start-up and acceleration performance, they have an outstanding amount of "punch" when coming out of turns when used in high speed boats. A waterproof on/off switch is fitted so that you can connect the battery then seal the hatch, the radio can then be switched on when you are ready to go.
2 running modes can be selected, either forwards only or forwards and reverse. The speed controllers also have multiple protections as shown in the features list below. Programming of the many features of the speed controller is easily done using your transmitter.
Note: "If you upgrade or have upgraded the firmware on the Marine / EZ-RUN / K-Force ESC, it will not work with the Programming card. You will only be able to do throttle calibration with the transmitter for the ESC and you will not be able to reset the ESC to factory settings".

First impression is good. But... The esc has only 2 caps on the powerleads? On the pictures it looks like there are more on it. I have not installed it in my boat yet so can't give a proper review so far. Anyone else tried the version with the 2 big caps on the leads yet?My first impression when opening the box was that this is a very impressive looking bit of kit that comes with plenty of good reviews.
I bought this speedo for use in my Pursuit so it should be more than adequate and leave some "in reserve" that may be handy if I decide to upgrade the motor and/or cell count in the future.
The plugs that came on the motor that is fitted in the Pursuit were too small to fit those that are fitted to this speed controller but fortunately the speedo came with a spare set of 3 matching plugs (complete with colour coded heat shrink).
I removed the plugs from the motor and soldered-on the bigger ones - but then found that they did not fit into the speed controllers sockets!!!!
After about an hour of very careful sanding with fine emery cloth (and constant check fitting) I eventually had the plugs fitting smoothly (but tight) into the speed controllers sockets.
I now have everything fitted into my Pursuit and when connected up the speed controller worked immediately and the motor was turning in the correct direction - so all good so far.
The auto set-up was a surprise but I wanted to program the unit to make sure I had full throttle and to remove the reverse function.
So far the speed controller has refuse to accept any programming commands from the RadioLink transmitter so I will keep trying and maybe buy a programming card as I do want to get the best out of this speed controller and to make full use of its built-in functions.Seems to be working well but shuts down over 120 amps with green light flashing, doesnt feel too hot. Maybe the 180 amp rating is a bit optimistic?It is impossible to program this ecu with the transmitter, I can't enter the programming mode. When I run the boat it will only run for a couple of seconds before it shuts down and you have to go back to neutral position to start the engine again.easy to configure without a programming card

get one.......one of the best ESC for marine RC boatsThis is the best ESC for boats over 800 mm. I have bought 5 because they are 100pcnt waterproof, tough, plenty of capacitors for long leads and have terrific punch. Don't hesitate - buy it.very good speed control for price run 6s all the time with leopard 4092 does not over heat awsomemuch better esc than the 120a, testing it know in my ospreyAmazing speed controller.
