Great motor

Apr 27, 2020

Amazing motor for the price, works great and survived a lot of nose crashes. However, the prop adaptors that come with it are poor quality, and they snap after the first crash so if you crash count on having to replace them. I used a 11x6 propeller, works great and flies about 9 minutes on full throttle with a 2200 mAh 3S lipo.

Its the right size to fit onboard the aircraft

review stands the same for the review on the selected speed controller, to simply say I'm satisfied with the combination

Great power from a small motor!

Installed this park 480 on my Eflite extra 300bp and it's been perfect. Great park flyer motors at a very good price point.

Great powerful motors

Apr 07, 2019

I put one in a Funcub built light at 33oz with a 1300mah 4s Bolt HV charged at normal end voltage, 10x6 MA prop and it goes like hell. Ecalc recommended 10x5 for best all around but the 10x6 gives a little better initial grunt off the ground. I tried a couple SF props (12x4, 11x5.5)but all they did is suck the battery down faster. No performance increase from a stop and much lower top speed and shorter flight times.

Great motors

Aug 14, 2018

I have one on my super cub with a 10x7 prop and it works very well. easy flying gets me 10 min on 1000mah battery and hard flying gets 4min. The prop adapter fits well, the motor is quiet and the bearings feel great after about 25 hrs of flight time. Highly recommended.

Awesome motor - runs on my eflite Piper 450 with a 12 x 7 prop and 30A Turnigy contoller. on 3S - just takes about 23A. Very smooth and powerful. 5 out of 5 pointz.

I currently have 4 of these motors on a HK X650F 550mm quad frame and I am very impressed with their performance. The quad is currently 1.8kg and hover is around 50pcnt throttle with a 3s 5000mah battery. The motors were slightly out of balance when I first tested them but with the vibrometer android app and a few pieces of electrical tape this was rectified easily enough.

A couple of small notes would be to swap out the cones on the prop adapters for m6 nuts(far better balanced). I would also be careful not to overtighten as the aluminum threads don't look like they'll stand up to much abuse. A drop of threadlock on the tip of the motor shaft before seating the prop adapter is also a must.

For mounting the motors on my frame the screws that came in the accessory pack were far too small. I purchased some longer 10mm m3 screws also from Hobbyking that did the job.

Nice motor, reliable so far and plenty of power. For anybody deciding on a suitable propeller for this 850kv version, here's some data for a couple of slow fly props:

APC 9 x 7.5 SF
Pulled 25 amps @ WOT for 251W on 3S

Turnigy 11 x 4.7 SF
Pulled 28A @ WOT for 291 W on 3S (beyond the limits of the motor!)

Based on the specs of the brand name motor that this Turnigy is based on, it's probably worth treating this motor as 22A continuous- 28A max.

Used this motor for a DJI Wookong based Hexacopter. Motors are strong, efficiency is okay but bearings are not that good. bearings are sounding bad after only about 2 hours flight time in total. also the prop adapters are not centered well. buyed other prop adapters from HK they are also not good if you want to minimize vibration (for AP / Filming). I'll go for more expensive motors from other brands.

I bought this for an Eflite Staggerwing which which recommended their 480 1020kv motor.
I wasn't sure how this would do with 850kv, but this couldn't be a better match. The size was perfect, and it was easy to change the location for the mounting screws. 11x7 MA elec. prop pulls it scalelike at half throttle and hold on for dear life at full throttle.
