If you have ever had an ESC burn or battery suddenly drop voltage mid-flight then you will understand the importance of having a rock solid system powering your receiver and servos.
With instant failover protection the TURNIGY Redundant DUAL 8A UBEC system is an easy choice for anyone flying large scale aircraft.
The Dual 8A UBEC controller instantly switches to the second UBEC in case of a short, burnout, or power loss (faulty battery). The LED indicates #1 or #2 UBEC live status, over voltage (short) or low battery voltage.
The TURNIGY Redundant Dual 8A UBEC can be connected to one or two battery packs and provides redundancy in the case of an electronic, connection or battery failure. In most cases UBEC''s fail when an FET burns, shorting the circuit, frying your battery and cutting power to your receiver. This system prevents that by keeping the circuit open and switching source to the second UBEC and battery.

A must have for larger size aircraft!

I have had no roblems with this system, except the need to unplug the power supply battries. Or they will drain dead.

What the LED's do

Dec 14, 2016

Have bench tested this with this setup. 2 X 2S Lipo. 2 X Switches with Voltage display. Corona R8FA - 8 channel RX. Futaba 14 FG TX. With system powered up as normal, both BLUE LED's are illuminated. Either battery fails one or the other BLUE LED changes to RED. The two LED's on trailing leads from the BEC's are low voltage WARNING LED's. I tested this by substituting one 2S LIPO for a 4.8V NIMH. Now that BEC LED's flashes quite brightly in a tri-colour pattern. These are probably designed to be visible from outside the model. You can buy LED mounting parts or glue with silicon.
A point to note is that even with a 4.8v battery, both the BEC controller BLUE LED's are still displayed, and disconnecting the other 2S LIPO changes one BLUE LED to RED but the RX is still working- even on the 4.8V NIMH! ( but for how long I don't know, as it doesn't say what the cut-off threshold is in the specification)
You would be foolish to operate the model like this and these tests are for explanation only.
Theres a good level of redundancy, but the weakest link here will be the RX power plug! Make sure its a 'good un'.
Works for me as supplied.

I have 3 of these. Two work great. One failed right off the bat. Seam to be the thing. If you get a bad one they fail right away. I use one in a 50cc Yak55 and one in a 50cc cub on floats.

I had mine faulty right from the box. one would work fine, then if I disconnected the other side and plugged the battery back in it would cut power from both....useless!

exelente alternative has two classic food but the weight indicated by HB 49 g ... this is not true in reality UBEC weighs 125 g ... not so very embarrassing for mounting on a big plane. by against the connection of the batteries, the UBEC is on without that it is connected to the receiver ... so will have to put a separated switch for each battery ... but for the price it is a good material that the air to do its job but I'll test on a bench at the break of my dle30..a follow ..

I'd been looking for just the right unit for my crafts (air land and water) some of the servos have big amp draws that exceed the typical 3-5a choices. With a little trepidation I picked up this Redundant 8a UBEC as it seamed perfect. Split them up - no need for the control board and extra sense wires. It works perfect and as a bonus I get 2 separate 8a Ubecs for $18... hard to beat that!! Plus they each have the status LED on a long wire. Couldn't be happier, here today to get 2 more.
