DON'T BUY!

Jan 02, 2021

AVOID THIS!!! Waste of money...
I highly recommend reading some forums and checking out youtube videos describing all the issues with this combo, and Trackstar in general...
A lot of customers have received combos dead out of the box, my case also, and others claim it burned after a few uses...
My Trackstar 80A ESC was dead/unresponsive out of the box, and the brushless motor, connected to a Castle ESC was making a horrible grinding noise...
I have returned it and will never buy another Trackstar product...

Expected to be more durable

Jan 28, 2020

I had 2 of them failed in 6months. On the first one, the cable to the power switch melted itself, the other one stopped responding to the input from RX.
Anyway, good customer support from HK, replaced it the first time, the second time i got a refund.

ESC broke on first run

Jan 12, 2020

The ESC broke on my first run. I bought an 80A X-CAR ESC now, and this product only gets the three star rating because the motor is actually pretty good.

Looks the goods!

Dec 19, 2019

I've got it yesterday, it's installed and it looks the goods, seems to work fine with my Stampede - the only suggestions I have are maybe an installation manual should come with the unit?

Good setup

Pretty good little combo has good torque and decent speed. Could be faster but not bad for the price

BUY THE PROGRAMMING CARD

May 08, 2018

Buy the card, this setup is useless without it, and fantastic with it.
It's insanely powerful, waterproof, stays cool (possibly because I use it in a quite light 1/10 2wd stadium truck, but even with a 24/87 gearing I never got it past 60C / 140F)

Nearly Perfect for me

May 27, 2017

First Impressions on my Traxxas Slash 2WD - awsome !
I hardly recommend the Porgramming Box to change at first the acceleration from Low to Medium. The Difference between the XL5 and the brushed Titan to this Brushless Kit is big. I run on gearing 23/86. The ESC stays cool, the Motor gets a little hot (Finger Test). I will try a 19/86 gearing to cool down the Motor a little. I drive on 2s Lipo. On the website they say 2 Cell only. On the Package Specs stands 2-3s. I don`t know if i should try a 3s Lipo. But anyway, the power with 2s is enough for the slash in my opinion. The future will show how the Motor and ESC will make it on Sand and water. The only thing i miss is to change the LVC from the standard 3,2 to the 3,5V setting which i would chose for a saver action with my LiPo Cells. The Programm Box do not have the LVC Setting to change. On Day two with this Set i am highly satisfied.

Good for the money but culd be a bit more powerful

Apr 22, 2017

At first always buy it with programm card.
The acceleration is in low setting at stock. Only with the programm card could be changed to high mode. Done this than it comes a bit more powerful.

I measured the power between the 2s battery and ESC with turnigy wattsup meter.
Peak power was at 450 Watt current on 45 amps. Car was a Traxxas Bandit with 21 to 86 gearing. Also measured Speed with GPS. Highspeed was at 46 kmh. Thats 6 kmh more than Titan 12 with xl5 Esc.

The acceleration is also better than with Titan 12 and xl5.
Overall a 60a system with higer burst current would be the Vetter way to go i a bandit. This system can not pull a whellie on 2s and stock gearing in my bandit. But the good thing is that the bandit is very good to handle with this system and became quicker and more lively than with Titan 12 and xl 5

After 2 packs of battery driven i can say that the positive weight more especially in focus of what you get for your money. No issues with ESC after two drives
