This device is great! Works like it says it will and is easy and fun to use! It will probably see some use as I attempt to repair surface mounted electronics repairs - or at least let me see what I am about to throw into the bin and why : (

If I needed another one of these I wouldn't hesitate to get another one.

Jimbo.
Just in case someone wonders, this works fine on Linux with the regular webcam drivers, just plugged in and used the "Cheese" photo booth software, for example, which lets you capture photos and videos.

Good bang for your buck even at 32 dollars. I caught it on sale at 22 bucks and have always been wanting on to replace the magnifying glass and jewelers loupes i have to use. I just plug the usb into the back of my desktop computer in my build room and leave it plugged in on my desk. It turns on and off with just a click so is very convenient for quick use.

Was better than expected. I thought that since this product was so cheap, it was not going to be very good. Does everything that its purpose was intended for.
Just received mine today and hooked it up and to my surprise, this thing is great. The resolution at both 60 and 250 is very clear and easy to focus. It is NOT graduated however, you get two(2) focal points, one @ 60 on the stand and 250 by refocusing by holding the unit off the stand and on the clear lens protector. The LEDs are very bright and really light up the observed item. The ability to take pictures and video as well as timed sequence photos is a real plus. The ability set all the normal camera settings
via software works very well. Only drawback was I ordered it in March and just received it 06/23/2016 because it was backordered. Not surprised though as this unit is very popular and worth twice what HK is charging.
First of all the camera is definitely good bang per buck.
The built quality is quite good considering the price.
The camera installed without problems on my Mac OS and the software as well. The software is pretty basic, but as far as I know there's no better free alternative.
With a resolution of 800x600 you get a reasonable high update rate on the screen, good enough for i.e. soldering, but at the maximum resolution of 1600x1200, there's a noticeable lag, but it's still not bad.
Depending on the screen it doesn't reach the 250x magnification. On my 15" screen i got a maximum of about 60x. But that's more enough for the inspections of solder joints, which is probably the application the camera is best suited for.
Overall I can recommend this USB-microscope, because it has a good look & feel and it works straight outta box.
