The superb Versus is an up to date and great looking DLG with an attractive price tag, construction quality is excellent, as is the flight performance!

The lightweight construction of the Versus has been achieved through extensive use of CF and GF, the foam cored wings are of course CF reinforced, the canopy and boom are also Carbon Fiber but then to keep costs low, the fuselage pod is GF with CF reinforcing. The tailplane is Glassed balsa for stength and minimal weight, likewise the supplied hardware is not only excellent but keeps weight to a minimum and for finishing, fine CF & GF mesh cloth are also included, this is a builders kit for sure but the end result is well worth the effort!

The Versus is perfect for those pilots maybe wanting to have a go at DLG but are put off by the big bucks Euro designs, but price is not just what The Versus is all about, it is a really nice quality, superbly designed and great performing DLG that any pilot would be happy to own!

I just took receipt of my 2nd Versus in 10 days. The first was delivered and one of the wing panels had a divot in it where the glassing left a spot with exposed carbon spar and foam.

So, I submitted an RMA to HK on that 7 days ago and have yet to hear back. Wanting to get going on building a plane from ARF rather than PNF, I ordered a second Versus, reasoning if they denied the first RMA I at least had some spare parts:).

I received my second Versus yesterday and opened the box this evening...what a disappointment. Both wing panels have deep creases than extend from the leading to trailing edge of each, ON BOTH SIDES. As such, each wing panel has flex at those creases...unacceptable.

Just submitted another RMA request at HK (two in two weeks on the same product and same problem...poor wing panels that ARE NOT USABLE - could not upload pictures there tonight and will try tomorrow.

I would not purchase a Versus right now until HK responds with new wing panels and addresses the overall QC problems they are obviously having.

Great plane for starting in DLG. Fuselage is small and the wing is thin (less than 10mm) so consider this, when you buy servos, battery and receiver.

Also you need to shorten the tail tube when you are assembling the plane. Overall length must be under 1100mm otherwise the plane becomes tail heavy.

only complaint i have is a weak fuselage, mine in half broke during launch. after approx. 50 throws.

hi there,
this is my first DLG, and i'm very happy and impresive by the high quality material used. nothing miss, build is well done. be carrefull, this is not for a build modelism beginner, maybe you need tips from old man =) and folow the user manual.
wing 63gr each
boom 15g (!!!)
main body 41 gr
rudder 6,4 gr
elevator 11gr
for the wing i use HXT500, and for elevator and ruder, tiny 3.7gr servo. 360mAh2s lipo with a tiny Ubec.
20gr in the nose added for good CG, and the final weight about 325gr, you have to balance the right wing, due to the finger lauch. (4gr in the left wing)
launch isn't difficult, at first, tell a friend to pilot when you launch.
have fun =)

It flies great along ridges and in weak thermals. It is easy to land straight back into your hand. In high speed the elevation control gets tricky and also the rods to rudder and elevator need to be fixed more than described in the manual.
Overall it is worth the money and I really enjoy flying it since 3 months almost daily after work.

Awesome first DLG! built mine last month, 300g all up weight with a 500mAh 2s pack in the nose, two 9g MG servos. built it per the video on youtube by Andrew Newton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcIDaHj9mGY , but used the provided pushrods internally mounted in the tail boom, very helpful video. This plane has hundreds of flights on her already, a few hard landings. very light, great floater, can get good 80-100 foot launches. hours of fun. I love this plane. great value but is an advanced build. highly reccomend it. Roger

Great and wonderful glider, build mine over a few weekends, and followed the instructions in the RC Groups thread on the Top Sky name. Used Hi-tech servo's all around and got better control rods for the tail.
My first DLG and first time using CF in a build, takes some time to make sure it is done right, but wow what a glider. Thermals well, and takes some abuse.

Compared to the typical offerings in the DLG market, this represents excellent value for an entry-level model. Upsides: quality finish on the wings and boom, nice lines. Downsides: carbon tapes under the (smooth) wing finish are quite frayed - and of course, this shows! Pod is a real pain to work in. Plenty of space, but the (carbon) hatch is ludicrously small. balsa/glasscloth tail surfaces start off nice but after some handling the surface starts to lift off. I'm convinced this is due to the practice of tacking down the cloth with spray-mount before glassing - the spray stops the resin from bonding the glass with the wood. The tail control wires and tubes are nice quality but I couldn't see any way to get a nice straight job, so I used the wires to make springs and installed braided fishing line inside the boom. The boom is nice but I couldn't live with the seam, so the boom got rubbed down, primed and sprayed. I used BMS 308Db and 306DMAX servos. with a FrSky 4-ch. Rx. The batteries suggested by HK are rubbish - they wont fit! I used a 4-cell 320mAh 1/4AAA NiMH which weighs 30g and needs no BEC or the wiring that goes with it. Mine balances at 75mm from the LE, NO BALLAST, A.U.W = 290g. If you're prepared to put in a little work and make some changes, this builds into a ver nice little model indeed - minor gripes notwithstanding. MT

Mine arrived with a cracked tail boom. Must have been done before packing because the box was intact.
It took ages to organise a replacement boom. After THREE months I'm still waiting for it to arrive.
After doing a bit of testing I found that the four servos I bought (that they recommended) were no-where near up to the job. Had to replace them before they were installed!
Very poor service/backup - watch out guys!

i have purchased 2 of these now and both arrived in perfect condition,i have built many dlg gliders mainly blasters and topsky ,the first was trial and error the 2nd build completely different there are no manuals but its the topsky 1 so easy to download,i built the second completely different instead of the glass fibre cloth that came with it i purchased some glass fibre tissue cloth a lot thiner and lighter ,and used that instead ,The only place i used the carbon cloth was on the top of the wing join, also good tip i fixed the elevator to make it one solid peice and fitted a blaster 2 elevator mounting ,this makes a hell of a difference as i didnt think as it was there was enough control surface ,its well worth doing this, also fixed the rudder to none moving as well you dont need them on dlgs.I covered the wings in wing tape no difference to weight but makes a difference to orientation in the sky, fitted turnigy 8gm servos found these to be as good as the ripmax sd150s and 100s, i have uploaded some pics of the finished glider to the files section
