Wasp

Dec 01, 2008

I made about 100 flights now with this heli, quite a lot I think. So in my opinion it is a good heli with good flight performance.

I'm new with heli's, I learn to fly with it, so I only hoover and fly circles, the parts are not tested with high 3D loads.

These are the things I had to deal with:

Difficulties to get it flying with my own transmitter, the set up is not easy for an unexperienced.

After 15 flights I replaced the gyro + servo by a logictech2100+servo.

After 30 flights 1 swash servo failed. I finally replaced all three of them with the HD-202.

I also bought an extra lipo after 30 flights.

After 80 flights the one way bearing on the main transmission failed. I screwed the main gear on the belt pulley.

The skyartec Lipo (60 charges) + the esc + the motor are still doing well.

I think it is a good heli for learning to fly and absolutely worth money

Wasp V4

Nov 30, 2008

Only 3 Stars because one of the blades broke at first spinup, missed my leg and punched a hole in my door.

The tail was moving fast from left to right no matter how i set the gyro. it worked only after removing the Gyros plug from the gear channel, replacing the tail servo with a fast digital jr one and reducing the massive play in the tail pitch by adding ca coats to the linkages.

There is / was a lot of play not only in the tail but also in the linkages of the rotorhead.

After fixing those issues ists a really nice tiny heli for a unbeatable price.

Wasp v4

Oct 18, 2008

I'm a newby with helicopters, but after one week of setting up and trying, I'm hoovering a little with this helicopter.

It seems to fly well!

Setting up the heli on my FF-7 was difficult, especially the gyro setup.

It is difficult, because there is no manual included how to do this.

I found a manual on the internet for the gyro (and also for the esc) on

I give it 4 stars. Almost 3

After 2 runs the oneway diff fails.

Temporarly fixed it by glueing the maingear and beltpulley together with CA.

Swash static and dynamic weren't lock together so I did not fly untill I glued those parts together with locktite.

Gyro doesn't intilize with a corona synth receiver so I made a switch between the Plus wire of the Gyro to turn it on after the receiver started.

But it looks great. Upgrade parts are nice.

WASP V4 -SMALL BUT LIKE LARGE

Nov 14, 2007

Small helicopter equipped like large. Before putting it in the air, it is necessary to check if all is quite tight. I have to balance the principal blades and to adjust tracking.I have also to stick the top swashplate into the bearing of the sub-swashplate.

Following several tests, it appears that the gyro does not function with a synthesized receiver, I have to assemble a receiver to quartz.

Nice tiny heli

Nov 14, 2007

Very fast delivery to Japan. Packed neatly.

The main frame is made of carbon and many parts are metal. Very rigid structure.

I found difficulty in tail linkage. When tighten the tail boom stator, tail linkage does not work (Tail boom stator is also used for tail linkage rod guide. If tighten it, the guide hole become too small for the rod to move smooth. It is difficult to describe it here but you understand when see it actually). So I had to make the guide hole larger.

At first flight, there was a serious vibration. I had to balance the main blades at the field. Then it flied quite stable.

After several flights, the tail unit (Made of resin) got cracked. I think the unit was damaged during the first vibration. I should have balanced the main blades before the flight. I ordered upgrade tail unit (Metal) at another site (This site does not sell them). I found this small heli very attractive anyway.
