    I've used NiMH batteries for over a decade. I've always charged on the way to the field and they've suited me well over the years.
    I had heard about LiFe batteries and their use for receivers and finally decided to give them a try. There ARE a few differences, like how to charge them (needs LiFe-applicable charger) and keeping track of how many flights you can get on any particular battery.
    I had use a VoltWatch on each of my planes, but that technology doesn't work with LiFe batteries. They don't taper off, they DROP very steeply at the end of their charge. There's no way for the VoltWatch to know how much is still in the battery until it's too late.
    So, you need to sneak up on the number of Mah used per flight and multiply that times the number of flights. Then you know how many flights you can get on a charge. It's math, and I'm not a fan of math. But once you know what you're using per flight, even a luddite like me can figure it out.
    The value is great, I REALLY like that they don't drop a charge just by sitting on a shelf, and for the cost, the update in technology is well worth the investment. IMHO.
