Qualité des foam board

Jan 04, 2018

Ce matériau est extrêmement cassant. Bien peu de modèle résistent a un atterrissage douteux. Le depron est de bien meilleure qualité.

Great for the Price!!

Nov 03, 2017

I will say from the start, this is not depron! It's not as rigid and it pulls easy when cutting. However, with this in mind, it is way cheaper than depron and has some real advantages. I use wing tape on one side and you can really roll this stuff to make very tight tubes or fuselage prices, even score and fold aerofoil experimental airlines style and they are great, light and look good. Just use a decent carbon rod. 5mm is perfect as it is the thickness of the foam. Planes made with this foam tend to be lighter, despite needing some additional strength in some areas. As for the cutting, keep your knife sharp, and only score a small depth on multiple passes and you get very clean lines. I use this with the 10mm stuff as well as I can use it for strength, shaping and sanding and makes a great wing plate for a parkjet. In all, I will be buying again as it gives access to cheap foam for aussie buyers!

Very similar to Depron but at a much cheaper price

Oct 05, 2017

Very similar to depron but cheaper. Not as ridged as depron , little bit floppy but layer of packing tape makes it nice & strong! sands well just like depron but be gentle when sanding. Finer grit sand paper will do a good job. I did some comparison by weighing the sheets. 700x500x5 mm sheet weighs about 57g which gives 0.0164g/cm2.
6mm thick depron is 0.0234g/cm2 . so this foam is 30% lighter than similar thickness depron!
3mm thick depron is 0.0123g/cm2 . this foam is slightly heavier than 3mm depron
5mm foam core boards in Australia (Riot art or draftex) is 0.043g/cm2 ! that is 2.5 times heavier than this foam. even with layers of packing tape this foam is much lighter than foam core boards.
paper removed (both sides) foam core board is 0.034g/cm2 which is XPS sheet.
5mm GPS (polystyrene) from Daiso is 0.02g/cm2
5mm EPS (expanded poly) is 0.0148g/cm2 but floppy

decided to get some of this foam to try out some flite test park models for the club , and im pretty impressed , the only thing i could ask for is paper on the foamboard . but because of this all i have to do is cover the bendy bits and hinges with some masking tape and im good to go , its also much lighter by far...

Looks and feels like Depron, although with a slight brownish tint (only noticeable when held against a sheet of Depron). Weighs 57.5g per sheet (5x500x700mm). Slightly heavier than Depron (compared with 6x500x700 Depron at 60g).

So far i am very satisfied with the foam. I made a FPV 49 V3 (scaled to 87pcnt:D) out of it. Once covered with tape the foam is very durable!
