BUY BUY BUY

Oct 09, 2017

Great boat love it clocked 81km on Stock setup with 6s 30c. It is a rebadged joyways alpha with a smaller price tag. I want to buy another boat but can't see any that comes close to this size or spec for the same money, good job hobbyking only thing it needs is a cooling fan as motor gets hot on 6s maybe even a slightly smaller prop but still way under the cost of any boat of this size. The hatch lock design is awesome it has 2 arms (one each side) and a rear which all move as one piece holding the cover on can't see it ever coming off. Also very stable I even tried to flip the boat in sharp turns but doesn't want to flip would buy again.

Stop it sinking if it flips

Sep 11, 2017

I was so pleased with my Inception that I decided to buy another boat from Hobby King and chose the Pursuit as it looked good and has a glass fibre hull.
As I unpacked this boat I noticed that two blocks of a hard foam had been cut to shape and stuffed into the front of the hull to give the Pursuit some buoyancy if it were to flip over or crash.
The Inception has no buoyancy foam in it and one reviewer has lost his boat when it sank so I thought this simple idea would help to prevent any similar loss.
I noticed that my Pursuit was packed in its box with this very same hard foam being used as packers to prevent damage in transit (!) so I cut some of this hard foam to shape and pushed it into the front of my Inception to give it the same type of buoyancy to stop it sinking if I were to crash it.
This type of foam is used to pack a lot of household things that we buy these days and is usually thrown away so this is a cheap fix that can work well, it is out of sight, and does not need any modification to the boat to fix it (other than removing the motor to make room to push the foam in) so it is well worth the effort!

Now my Inception is up and running!

Aug 23, 2017

My batteries arrived from HK and I had already prepared some short conversion leads so I could run them with the XT90 plugs that come fitted to the boats speed controller.
I chose to fit a pair of two cell 5000mah LiPo batteries and so fitted the correct 4S marked propeller for the boats first run in our local boat club lake.
The performance was much better than I had expected it to be on 4S and was more than fast enough for the size of the available club water.
The boat handled easily and looked great on the water and had good steering when on power and not so much steering as the boat slows down.
No leaks or any other problems were encountered and so now I cant wait to find a bigger stretch of water to give the boat another run with the alternative prop that came with the boat for use with 6S.
This is a very good boat that is remarkable value for money that looks good both in and out of the water !

My Inception RTR Racing Boat - opening the box and putting it together .

Jun 22, 2017

I thought I would make a few observations about my new HydroPro Inception while I am waiting for my new batteries to arrive.
My Inception was delivered quickly and in perfect condition and looks very impressive, so my initial reaction is that I will be very pleased with this boat.
The first job after opening the box is to slot the stand together and you will find that this fits better one way than the other so assemble it "dry"on a flat surface and check it is perfectly aligned before adding the thin superglue to fix it.
The end of the stand marked F fits best when facing the back of the boat! - exactly the opposite way around to what you would think.
The rubber hose supplied to clip over the stand uprights cannot fit the complex shape, so I used self adhesive foam rubber strip on mine and it works much better and it cushions the hull better too.
Before I did this I checked the fit and shape of the stand to the underside of the hull and noted that although it fits best the way described above - it is not the same shape as the hull so when time permits I will modify the (otherwise good looking) kit stand, or just make a new stand that will fit better.
Installing the rudder, turn fins and propeller went without any problems, but I preferred to fit stainless steel M4 nylock nuts to replace the standard type nuts supplied on the outboard parts to add some security without the need to use any thread lock so they will be easy to remove or adjust in the future.
With a lifetime of racing model cars (and previously fast ic powered r/c boats) I put some spare nuts of the correct size in my "pit box" so I will have them with me when I am away from home running my boat - as it could "save the day" if I should loose one!
I checked the rear shaft strut and adjusted it to be at 0 degrees and checked that the trim tabs were also in line with the bottom of the hull so everything will have a neutral point when the boat makes its first run.
The flexi-drive shaft needs to be lubricated with a "waterproof marine grease". I need to find out exactly what this is but guess that any good grease will be OK until the specified type can be identified - as long as it is changed after every session?
I may even try Vasa.....(a well known petroleum jelly) as this works well on all plain bearings and does not wash off easily with water and may be another temporary option that is easily available.
It is nice to see XT90 connectors installed in the boat.
When my new batteries arrive and as my battery collection grows for this boat I will fit XT90 connectors to them all as my experience with the smaller XT60 connectors in all sorts of models has been good with absolutely no problems after many years of use.
This slightly bigger size has the same "fool-proof" connection method and has slightly bigger internal gold plugs and sockets so they should work just as well and handle the extra power well enough too.
Well there is nothing else I can do for now but when the batteries arrive I will fit some XT90 connectors to them and report back on the final preparation of the boat and how it performs when I run it on the club lake for the first time !

Incredible value

Jun 15, 2017

This boat is incredible value for the price. I was expecting to have to upgrade some parts to make it a good boat but was very surprised when I got it how good it is. Having said that to make it a better boat I strongly suggest that you throw away the stock props as they are way to big. The boat works alright but the run time is very short and all the electronics get very hot. I put a cnc 445 on with 6s and run time now is nearly 7 minutes everything runs cool now and is only slightly slower
