For the price it's good. The main rotor shaft was bent as i've received the Assault.
Maybe you should change the servos, the original nylon gear servos aren't that tough, even with a hard pitch i've managed it to destroy them.
The ESC is a Turnigy 40A with 3A SBEC @ 5V, doesn't even get warm at (some sort of) 3D.
I only have some troubles with the tail, but i guess that's my fault.

First of all you will have to replace all servo for metal gear servo . Do it at first cause it will crash for sure... Next thing is that all the spare parts we need to fix this heli are now backorder at HK....for certain parts you can look at align trex 450 ...

This is an update to my previous review. Good luck trying to fit a 2200 maH battery in there. I've got a few, and they're all a tight squeeze. Most won't fit, but I have *one* that does. Quite frankly, the frame could have been designed much better, as there is too much wasted space in the front section of the frame. They could have made the battery platform much flatter, which would have made it a lot easier to cram (and yes, cramming is what you will have to do to fit batteries) a battery in there for flight.

Updating my previous review - replaced dodgy esc with a reliable one, Rotorstar tail servo solved my tail issues, and better cf blades gave it overall better performance. With these minor upgrades (especially as servos was replaced by HK at no cost), it has become a very sweet flying heli, deserves 4 crowns

I just received this bird yesterday. Overall, she's a good airframe, but these servos look cheap. Really cheap. The tail gear is a thing of beauty, and is all metal CNC machined. Everything else is nice, but these servos...shiny plastic (except for the tail servo). I'm probably going to have to replace them before I do any serious flying. HobbyKing: put metal gear servos in, and charge another $50 and this will be a 5 star bird. As is, I wasted time and money waiting for something with cheap servos that need to be replaced. According to another reviewer, he crashed on the maiden flight (likely) because of a servo failure. There's no excuse for that. Also, the canopy is quite thin for a bird of this size. Expect to replace it.

I gave this helicopter 3 crowns just because it's cool.. however it arrived with 1 bad servo... and that's after I contacted hobby king and asked them specifically about the servos before my order was processed.. they assured me the newest batch (my assault 450) would come with metal gear servo.... that was a lie.

I replaced the faulty with one of my own to get it flying.. the fbl controller is easy to program, it seems to have plenty of power, the servo are the weak point.. on my first flight when bringing it in to land about 2 feet off the ground it pitched forward and that sight crash broke a link to the swash plate, broke a main blade, and appears to have stripped another servo.. but thinking back on the crash.. I suspect one of the 2 remaining servos from hk failed.. which caused the crash in the first place..

This helicopter isn't really with the money with the included servos.. they seem to be the failure point.. especially when the shipping to the United States is about $80.. so at a cost of $307, then adding one servo of my own to get it in the air... and the possibility that another servo failed and caused the crash...on the first flight.. it wasn't worth it..

Hobby king add metal gear servos, increased the price $50 to $265 for the plug and fly.. ship from the U.S. warehouse and this helicopter would be worth every penny and come in $100 less than a blade 450x an

Thought I would give this a try as an alternative as it seems to be good specs and value for money, compared to a Blade 450. Overall good assembly and well set up, but 2 glitches so far which has effectively grounded it - loss of power to receiver after about 1-2 mins of flying, and a tail that stops on the extreme of movement on tail shaft (not a set up problem). Suspect the esc a problem and will replace it, and trying to figure out the tail problem, fly trying to keep it around the tail shaft center (no piros!). Seems like a good buy, pity about the initial quality issues

I have now upgraded my review. HK customer service has really gone that extra mile to make things right and i am very happy. i have also flown the heli with the stock servos and it flies very well. did not do much as im waiting on the metal gears to be delivered. this heli is easy to fly and most of the hard work setting it up has been done for you. i really like this heli
