The o-ring is very easy to install if you fill the groove with petroleum jelly. Wipe any excess out of the water channel. Mine came with threads coming through the o-ring channel so I recommend you file the threads in the channel down carefully. It doesn’t have to look perfect, just try and smooth it out so it doesn’t kill the o-ring over time. Great way to add weight. One of my boats required ballast (weight) so I used this instead. Cooling is excellent for nickel metal but only fair for lipo because it will only effectively cool 1 cell. I only use 1 plate but if you wanted I guess you could make a battery sandwich using both plates. It would be a pain in my opinion. Weight is 107 grams wet, 90 grams dry. Lastly don’t screw the screws in to tight, you could break a screw head. Use loctite

Clearly never tried before it left the factory. The o-ring groove isn't deep enough, the result is you can't install the o-ring without it popping out as fast as you install it. Which is why I guess it comes without the o-ring installed. O-ring is 2mm dia, groove only around 0.9mm deep. It is just possible if you hold the o-ring in place with your fingers then wet the top plate and slide it over the o-ring pinning it down. Also the nipple threads break through into the o-ring groove, hardly ideal. Amateur design.
