It seems the starting problems desribed above are solved. Excellent performance, much more power and smooth motor start. Drilling a hole of 1.5 mm in the pinion is necessary, and cutting away some plastic on the frame. Fun to do though. My 4#3b now performs the way I want! 9 minutes flight with 500 mAh 20C battery, wow!

I got two of this sets and I would buy more... They've just one bad habit: The motor won't start smoothly. It's an common problem of this type of outrunner - they removed every second magnet to gain the KV... but the ESC/Converter runs perfect. Of course you have to use good Lipos or you system will surrender in a lack of amps... If you want power, you've to provide energie...

Fit's also a 4G3 - for better performance you should try an 18 pinion

After carrying out the mods to frame and pinion then fitting this kit motor would not run at all. Found soldered connection inside motor had come undone. Fixed this ok. Half throttle is needed to start up motor. Once started throttle can be lowered without stall. Power is up around 15% over brushed motor. After around 4 minutes flight with Zippy 400 batteries, 75% and above throttle causes motor speed to drop to around half speed.

So here is my review on the new brushless conversion kit:

I ordered it to install it in my Walkera 4#3b after getting bored with installing new brushed motors every 15 flights.

The kit came well packed and completely assembled. An english manual is included which discribes the basic steps.

Total weigth of the kid is low, just 8.8 g. That's about the same as the brushed motor itself. Thumb up!

Installation was easy, allthough two steps not described in the manual were needed:

- a tiny bit of the mainframe has to be cut away to install the motor. Really no issue.

- the plastic pinion of the original brushed motor has to be used on the brushless motor too. Therefor its hole has to be drilled up from 1 mm to 1.5 mm. Also no big deal.

When I first tried to fly with my new setup, I was a little disappointed though:

the motor did not wind-up properly and just stuttered. Only when I gave almost full throttle it finally ran on high speed and the 4#3b made a jump.

I have not solved this problem yet, I don't know if it is more an issue of the ESC or the motor.

However, my current solution is to just give a little throttle so that the tail starts turning slowly and then tip on the main blades, which then turn slowly too.

Now to the inflight performance: it is muuuuch better than with brushed.

First of all: the tail is exactly the same as before, so no new tail motor needed. The sound is better and the power is much higher too. I flew the heli outside today and control i
