Just uploaded 2 pics, i used Beli Zell to secure the low-esr elkos i added to the fans. Added white servo grease to tha fan bearings because they made this ugly vibrating sound. No wonder, slide bearings running dry are not really quiet and can`t run long without wearing out. After this 2 little mods, the power supply became a very reliable one and runs cooler than before. The fans now start early with low rpm and accelerate when this power supply has to do a little more. Charging a 4S 5000 mAh lipo battery with 1C make the fans run faster, charging 2 of them with 2 chargers makes them run at full speed the whole time. They sound like little turbines now. And there is no more ugly smell. I`m using it with 13.8 volts output because one of my chargers is really old and can`t deal with more. Now i`m really satisfied with this power supply. Ball bearing fans would be great, and if the manufacturer could add the 2 elkos or change the fan control it would be great, too.

This is a great little power unit. Compact and proffessional looking and quiet even when the fans are running. I did do the capacitor mod which for the sake of a few pence has made this unit perfect. Thanks HK well worth the money.

After some heavy use of this power supply up to 25 amps i`m really satisfied. The cooling fans are not on the quiet side, but do a great job. This power supply likes it above 5 amps, then the fans are running all the time with some speed changes, and above 10 amps they run nearly all the time at full speed. The case never got more than slightly hand warm up to 15 amps, at 25 amps it works harder and gets warm. But it never over-heated, and the output voltage was stable all the time. With a better power management for the fans, this would be clearly a 5 star product. But the trick with the 470 F condi for each fan works well and gives this power supply a good power management for the fans without any more bad smell. If the factory can fix this issue, then this power supply would be a real winner.

Did only a 3 hours ttest with this power supply, it has a bad smell out of the box so i was careful. But it started without trouble and powered the iCharger 106B-plus for 2 charge cycles without problems. Maybe i have to do the little mod with the 470 F capacitors for the fans. The output voltage was very stable at this first test. With a little rework from the manufacturer this could be a very good power supply, for now only 4 stars. Careful, the voltage is set to 18 volts, be careful if your charger can handle only up to 14 or 15 volts! Take a multimeter and check the output voltage before connecting a charger.

The burning smell from these supplies is from the cooling fans, the power to the fans is too 'rough' so they fail to start up at lower voltages (temp controlled fans) and overheat! The problem is solved by putting a small electrolytic capacitor in parallel across the fan connectors (70uF 16v works well) and then the fans start up at lower voltage and run cool, why such a simple problem which such a simple fix has not been resolved at design stage is beyond me.
Once the fans are sorted this seems to work really well.

Good powerful charger but mine gives off a strong electrical burning smell, the fans do come on and are fairly quiet given the amount of air they shift when at full speed. The fans only come on when the unit is under heavy load. Any electronics gurus know what the burning smell could be (what is overheating inside?) and any way to fix it?

I got this and it stinks my whole house out with a burning smell. The fans sometimes twitch for a while and make an odd buzzing before they come on properly. The red light on the power switch also doesnt work.

Also my 10-18v overlander pro rc8 started smoking while using this psu (set to 17v) and now wont let me discharge/store packs.
