I've read some critical reviews, but our experience has been very positive. Ours runs well on 96 octane pump gas in NZ. I'm writing this review to share what we learned about starting it because we had trouble initially. No need to increase jet size. Get a good fuel tank with a short (40 - 50mm) fuel line. Fill tank to the correct height per manual and ensure fuel line doesn't empty between bursts of compressed air. They need LOTS of pressure and once we realised that starting was easy. We have 200L compressor tank at 120psi. Made a fitting to seal gun nozzle directly to the spray bar. Spray, stop pop about 6 times to warm things up and then try a sequence of short bursts. Very, very noisy. You must have earmuffs, safety glasses and be ready to shut it off by pinching the fuel line after about 10 seconds. Wife, visitors, neighbours all utterly terrified. Awesome!

we have been using this at school (Aviation High) and have found it to be a fantastic product to demonstrate the famous pulse jet. I have read some negative reviews elsewhere, but can only say that our jet works great. Lots of noise and heat, what more can you ask for. My only other comment would that the listed thrust of around 1.6kg would be pretty conservative. ours is bolted to a very heavy frame and then this was sitting on a 8 draw high tool chest. If we dont chock the wheels, it would sail off down the road. Very impressive

Hi Chaps
Mine Runs very well on Gassoline/Petrol. Three things must be done Drill Fuel metering jet out to 1mm, Preheat the combustion chamber with a heat gun or blow torch, then PULSE the Air..... DO Not blow continuously this wil open the Petal vavle and blow away your mixture and deaden the firing sequence. I am running mine on 95 Octane Gassoline/Petrol (SA).
If in Doubt checl out this :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaIFK_85578 Bruce Simpson sorted itout nicely THANKS Bruce.....

I receive my engine only on 6 days ( California) everything looks good, I tried to start it with 91 gasoline and a air from a big compressor 155 psi, , but nothing ,, the fuel going inside but not fire, I reduce the air flow by closing a little the air valve, and then start but after removing the air supply the engine died , I think the air pressure will be 25 to 30 psi, only and the fuel supply is too lean, the engine only work with the air blowing on the intake, I am going to drill the cooper gasoline tube the make it rich ,, I am happy with it, after fine tune will work right , ,,,Is loud , very loud,, and coming hot really fast,
I will write again after make it working good

Wahnsinns Teile! Allenfalls 10ner ohne Dmpfer ! Also es geht so.

After my initial failure to start on gasoline I tried a 80/20 mix of methanol/nitromethane. SUCCESS!!! runs great!!!

The main jet was opened to 1/16 inch and body drilled out 3/32 inch, the cross holes were also opened out to 1/116 inch dia. (details from Web )

I made a very simple spark unit from a 12V car coil and a 12V relay wired as a "buzzer"powered by a 3s1p Lipo 3000mAH. This gave a fatter spark with higher frequency, the plug body was turned down to leave the centre electrode standing clear.

THESE ENGINES ARE MOSTLY MADE FOR FREE FLIGHT AND CONTROL LINE PLANES BACK IN THE DAY......IT WILL BE NICE TO SEE SOME RC MODELS CREATED USING THEM....LOTS OF THRUST.....MY NEXT ONE WILL BE INSTALLED ON A 1/5 SCALE CAR TO SIMULATE A SALT FLAT RACER

Hi all, just got the pulsejet and this is my review.

The box it came looked great and the engine where packed nicely.
The engine it self where very poorly welded, its supposed to be round but its more egg looking shape.

The ignitior box has a nice plastic frame/box but the components sucked, lasted for about 10 sec then it died. But im going to build my own igniter circuit and put it in the box.

But overall the engine starts. i used gasoline to start it with and after a fiew tries i got i running for about 20 sec and then turned it off by blowing with compressed air in the inlet valve. the reed valves looked ok after the run.

I am going to put up a youtube video of it running so check my channel out

TimmyEriksson is my channel name.

Seems well made with good machining on the machined parts. The welding is great and while the main part of the Pulse Jet is two metal pressings which are welded together the overall fit is pretty good slightly out of round but owing tot he way that it's constructed quite OK.

Only thing I feel need improving is the Instruction Manual for the Igniter. These are for short duration and it needs to say that the unit has a limited life at full power and should only be used in very quick bursts with time between each use to allow the circuity to cool down and return to best effeminacy.

I'm perfectly happy with the unit which works great. Only real problem is I now have to finish off the model it's going into so I can take it out and fly it. Pity that the thing I'm building isn't a Model Plane but made from the Construction Drawings of the real thing so there is a lot of messing around fitting what's needed.
