These ESCs are what you would expect. They are very basic and easy to use. They only downside is that I couldn't get them to work with a programming board. Also like everything from hobbyking it is hit or miss as far as working. 3 out of 4 that I ordered worked fine. Either order nicer turnigy ESCs or order an extra one of these just to ensure that you will have enough in case you get a dud.

You can't even begin to guess the potential of this ESC with its weak stock firmware : do yourself a favor and re flash it with SimonK firmware. Here is a quick 'how-to' guide * How to flash (certain) Atmega based ESCs with SimonK firmware : You will need : 1- USBasp AVR Programming Device for ATMEL processors (PRODUCT *ID: 381000147) 2- Atmega Socket Firmware Flashing Tool (PRODUCT *ID: 332000007) 3- Download the kkmulticopterflashtool (it has the most recent versions of SimonK firmware) 4- Do a google search for SimonK firmware (you will find a spreadsheet in docs.google with all the compatible ESCs with photos !) 5- Remove the heatshrink wrap from your ESC. Make sure your ESC is the same as in the photo. 6- Align pin 1 dot of the socket flashing tool with the pin 1 dot of the Atmega chip. Press firmly and upload the firmware. Kkflashtool will tell you if the firmware has been successfully upgraded. Make sure you choose the firmware with the bootloader : you can then re flash your ESCs by using the 3 pin servo plug with a ESC USB programming tool (PRODUCT *ID: 9171000243) without having to remove the heatshrink. 7- Get some transparent heatshrink tubing (20 mm) from here.

Works great so far, I've run it 36hrs straight at 12 volts and 12 amps, barely warm even with almost no airflow.

A very nice, small, light, and economical ESC for people that do not require special frills. This is an ideal choice for any application for up to 225W. I consider this ESC to be the perfect park flyer (and larger) choice.
