I've now had around 20 flights with the Katana and I've got to say I love it. It's far from being the fastest small edf in the world but it easily makes up for it in character. People at my flying field are amazed by how well it flies, I just love spending an entire 4 minute flight (1300mah 11.1v A-Spec used) making endless fly pasts at less than a foot off the floor at full throttle. My only criticism is that there is not enough glue used in the factory to hold the nose section to the rest of the airframe, and as a result yesterday after making a hash of rolling twice a foot off the floor the nose section has come off. It's repairable, but had more glue been used it'd have more than likely have just bounced. As other people have said, bin the included plastic EDF and fit a Dr Mad Thrust replacement.

fantastic little edf jet could not of been more happy with it . is small enoughf to keep in your car park up somewhere and just jump out and have a fly . flight time is around 5 mins with a 1000mah battery at around 50 to 60pcnt throttle and around 3 mins at full throttle and can also accept a 1300mah as well .

This is a quick little jet... If built right. I never tried the stock motor as it doesn't produce enough thrust to my liking so I went straight to 4s and the DMT 3300kv 50mm combo sold here. For the amps it pulls(27amps)it produces a very respectable amount of thrust so the efficiency I believe is better then the 50mm XRP 11b 4s setup(37amps and only another 100 grams of thrust)...at least on paper. Fitting the unit took a little carving and some gobs of epoxy - pretty simple but not a direct drop in. Also changed out the esc for a 40A out a salvaged Stinger. To make the esc stay in place just use some epoxy as sort of a tack weld on the 4 corners after you recess it into the cutout for it. Just make sure the heat sink is facing down so it catches airflow from the fan. Also added 1x6mm CF spars down each wing because they need it with the added power. The toughest part is attaching the fuse to the wing as most people have problems with any glue sticking to the smooth non painted epo. I used tooth picks, epoxy and patience. On my second Katana and this method hasn't failed me yet. Overall it's a sweet toss in your car and go to the field park flyer and if setup right can really move and pull off some decent acrobatics.

On the second flight, all of the blades shattered off of the turbine unit, with a very loud cracking sound, followed by one of the blades almost hitting me in the eye because it flew out so far... I'm sure that once I get a Dr. Mad Thrust EDF unit that it will be flyable. I hope you read this because it will probably not fly out of the box. Happy Flying!!

Great little plane but after reading some reports about the edf unit self destructing I removed it before flying and replaced it with an !! blade unit I bought on ebay. This plane screams across the sky and no problems so far with the new edf unit. The cost of new edf unit was 25Dollars....Great value.

Deleted a star on quality as the paint is coming off in sheets, they did not remove release lubricant before painting. This is a brilliant tough little jet, it has plenty of power and I can under arm launch. You have to balance the rotor, after which it runs very well. Set the airleron throws as mentioned in other reviews at around 6mm and expo at 50pcnt, I used the third hole in, on the servo arm as well, allow plenty of elevator for flaring on landing, all in all it flies true and stable the CofG exactly correct. I used a Turnigy ( blue ) 1.0 mAh. 30-40c, 4 to 5 mins. duration.

Mine arrived perfect and all assembly was easy. All my EDFs get a paper cone air diverter to direct the air to the blades and away from the spinner. (BVM design patent). Had to open under the servos to tuck in the RX so the battery is all the way back to get the plane to balance. At full throttle it has strong up pitch. A 10pcnt mix of throttle>elevator fixed that but still needs a correction for the up pitch at zero throttle. The fellows at the field were thrilled by it's speed. Many had trouble keeping it in sight. The aileron input needs more than 30pcnt expo for a steady flight. The foam wasn't cleaned of the release agent and the decal trim comes off easily. Paint doesn't stick unless the release is cleaned off. Full power and a easy nose high toss gives an arrow straight launch. Top Gun all the way !

own this plane and it is amazing fun. I run mine stock on a 1000 ma 3s batt . Get 3 minutes of flight time. This is not your first EDF it is a quick plane out of the box. The Rudder is a nice touch to clean up slow corners and stall turns. It also sounds real nice in the air

Hatte schon einige Mini Katanas.

Item arrived on time, no issues putting the pieces together, once connected air seems to be blowing in the wrong direction, instead of pushing back, air is pushed forward, not sure if the esc supplied can be programmed to reverse the motor or not but not happy with this, thought I purchased a PNF.
