after a shaky start and a couple of repairs due to a misconfiguration, yesterday I finally flew with this plane, although the fuselage is not long, I assure you that 1.20m wing gets to score well in flight. Plane but not too slow, good looking, in my opinion, not for beginners because the movements are slower and the rudder may mislead or complicating difficulties in putting in place the maneuver. beautiful to look at and drive. I recommend it.

I bought this as a bit of an experiment - I got an Enya 0.09 i.c. engine on ebay and decided this was the model to put it in, just for fun! I cut the wingspan down by cutting the tips off, removing one bay (one rib) and sticking the tips back on! Made it a clipped wing cub. Also cut the covering away to add side windows - makes it look much more cub-like. In fact the shape of the model is not all that accurate, especially the tail and cowl, but who cares, it looks the part. What's more, it flies great, the little Enya engine hauls it through any manoeuvre you like basically.
Having previously converted i.c. models to electric, it was nice to do the reverse for a change. The structure is good and solid, so no problem there.
Would recommend this model as a good fun, throw-around model, it is always the first in the car! Let's face it, at this price you can afford to be a bit of a hooligan with it!

I have just received My J3 un boxed And un packed it I have found The ailerons cracked On both wings The motor wall was glued wrong and very loose And only half of the hinges for the control services were in the packages Other than that The plane has a nice finish and looks very good If you are prepared to do the work it will look very nice in the air The only thing that lets it down Is the quality control.

This is a great looking plane and it really does fly very well. Looks good in the air and is very forgiving in flight, I use it to train new pilots at my club. Value for money is awesome, you just cant deny that. However it is not for the building novice or some one who does not have a good supply of spare parts, tools or time! It is a tricky build requiring a bit of thought and work. Previous building experience will make this a less frustrating project. However don't let this put you off it is a value for money buy that fly's very well and with a few additional parts i.e. stronger landing gear, larger tail wheel and main wheels and parts to build a battery tray and access hatch plus side windows, you will have a great little flyer.
Oh and the C.O.G. is 50mm from the wing Leading edge.

This is not a beginner plane for flyer or builder. The right thrust angle is built in,but not the down thrust. You must have 5 degrees of down thrust or it will pitch up on throttle. It is intermediate to build and you may have to fix quite a few things like the rear landing wheel (too small). May need to reinforce the elevator as well because the joint at the middle is so weak. Wing struts do not fit properly, may need some modifications. You need to carefully spot slot/holes behind the covering to install your accessories. CG is 50-60mm from wing edge. Any less than 50mm, the plane will be nose heavy to fly. You need to use a 2200mah 3s lipo pushed all the way to the nose to get close to the cg. I need to add a 9v battery to the nose, around 35g of weight to get it to balance with the 2200mah 3s. Forget the lipo mentioned in the description. It would be hard to get the right cg with them. 2200mah 3s gets you over 7 minutes of flight time. The large wing can handle the 2200mah 3s lipo nicely. No stress on wing loading and landing is pretty easy provided the CG is right. I repeat, this is NOT a beginner plane for flying and building. My maiden flight was successful and no crashes.

Like previously stated, is not for beginner builders. Went together straight forward, the landing gear could do with reinforcing, I'm planning on buying a separate set of gear the bolts to the bottom for stability. COG on main spar. Flies extremely scale-like with a park 450 motor and 9x5 prop, cruises on half throttle easy. Great value!

I bought this little cub basically to use as a flight trainer for aileron after flying the channel rudder throttle elevator aircraft.
You know if you bend it only its only 25 pounds down the drain.
Well it arrived the other day and what a pleasant surprise lovely yellow covered panels came out of the box with a fairly comprehensive packet of hardware included.
Good bits Very well made especially the canopy and the cowling after trimming they fit very well. I have seen worse on another cub that cost a fortune.
The way the wing struts fit on is excellent'
all parts fit together without modification.
Price excellent value for money for a balsa and ply construction.
Not so good bits
The instructions are nearly useless they are only good as a guide to your own experience.
This is not a beginners aeroplane for construction.
I would rate this as intermediate for building
All control surface hinges have to be fitted rudder and elevator have to be cut in the edge with a sharp knife the instructions show this but you have to look carefully at the pictures, for the locations.
The main wheels should be a bit bigger as well as the tail wheel is a bit flimsy but you can strengthen it with a second fitting point.
Putting the battery in is a bit of a mystery but I have made the canopy removable. an fitted the battery in there. not ideal but works it gives a good cog.
When its completed it loo

Its been quite a while since i bought this one but it is still not assembled because i am not that satisfied with the build quality.

I jokingly call it 'the banana' because the fuselage has a nice sideway bent.

In fact it is so much that i fear that it will always try to fly in circles...

The Assembly manual is also not realy helpfull since it does not cover important steps like and it is more confusing than helping.

But regarding the price you pay for this model you cannot expect too much of it.

Maybe someday when im realy realy erm.. realy bored i will put it together and use it as a kamikaze/shootout plane. Which is actualy quite a sad usage for it since a piper cup was my first model plane and i loved it.

Might be that i got a monday model since some customers here are praising the quality of this model but still.. mine is bent :)
