Put in an OS .15 with 8x4 prop, had to modify the engine mount so the muffler would be on the bottom and changed the rudder control to a pull-pull system. Came in at 1050g with a 4S 1500mAh NiMH battery. Mounted the battery on top of the tank to get recommended CG with the pull-pull. Flies pretty well for a small glow airplane. Had to change the color scheme. Didn't like the cartoon theme.

Very nice little plane!I ahave installed asp 21 motor with a 8x5 prop for sport and fast flying.the little katana is a rocket!just be carefull to with the landing gear and the firewall.for a glow setup both need strengthening.

Hi all I finally got my katana-15 build and I have to say what a plane for the money. The thing I do not like about it is the cartoon theme with the stars, the build manual, the rudder wheel, the rudder installation and the two diff sizes of the Katana decal that should be installed on the wing. THE BUILD: The first thing I did was remove the stars on the wings, it does not look good and I decided to go with a new theme a checker theme (I posted some pic`s in the file section) I painted the wheel covers and the motor cover in a day glow red. Everything fitted perfect until I got to the rudder and rudder wheel I had to do a lot of modification to get the rudder in line with the vertical wing and with the rudder wheel I had to drill a hole in the rudder and cut a grove into the rudder to get the wheel to fit it was not the same rudder wheel that in the build manual. The main wing bolts that come with the kit is also no good. the space you have to titan them is so small that I decided to use an Alan key bolt the get my wings bolted on to the fuselage but apart from this the rest of the build was a breeze to do. Some of the parts are a bid weak but can be strengthened. My katana will be a electric plane with a 3s 25c 2200 lipo and 40a esc, 36 910kv motor and a 12x6 prop. I would like to recommend this katana-15. I will post a video as soon as I have done

I bought this plane from hobbyking some months ago and put it aside after opening the box as I was disappointed with the weakness of the engine mounts, both glow and electric mounts are very fragile. Just over 2 weeks ago I had some time to put it together and made some small mods. I stuck some extra bits to the engine mount with epoxy for strength. Added some extra bits to inside of landing gear mount for strength. Added a paddle pop stick across bottom side of elevator with epoxy to stop the flexing, fitted slightly bigger wells for grass take off and landing. Running gear is a tunigy 3010B with plush 60 speedy, 2200s 30-50c battery , 9 x 4.75E prop, 4 X hitec HS81 servos. The motor is very light but plenty of power pulls 38amp on full power. Had to add about 150 grm lead to engine mount for CG of around 20mm back from leading edge. THIS IS A GREAT PLANE IF YOU FOLLOW THESE STEPS. This would have to be one of the best electric planes I have flown ( not for learners ) very positive and quick to react to any commands . I will more than likely out fly myself having fun with this one I LOVE IT.

Very nice little model.
There is very little comment, but they do not detract from the overall evaluation of the model. On his plane will put Saito-40, as with the other engine fails to obtain the desired center of gravity. Thank you for this model - I liked it and I got from this little acrobat lot of fun. I am pleased that Hobby King has to take into account people's desire to buy a model made of wood and range of such models is expanding.
I do not like the model of waste - plastic foam.

recebi o meu hoje,bem embalado e por milagre bem rapido para chegar,entelagem impecavel,bonito e atraente boa qualidade,s deixou a desejar as polainas que me venderam de fibra de vidro e entragaram umas de plstico,pretendo colocar um 3536 1000kv e bateria 3s 2200. mais uma vez obrigado hobby king,s me mande as polainas de fibra de vidro.
