Dragon Motor

Nov 14, 2007

I put this on a 46 inch wingspan CAP232 and have swung 10x7 to 11x7 props on it on 3 cells. I really feel it would comfortably swing a 12 in prop without breaking a sweat. The 10-inch props are a little under propped for the application, pulling 11-12amps, WOT. The 11's are just about right. I haven't sent the plane vertical till its a speck, yet, cause I'm still wringing it out. It's a fairly heavy bird but this motor pulls it anywhere I point it with no problems.

MT Dragon W35C3 980Kv brushles

Nov 14, 2007

Powering a newly built Great Planes Spectra electric sailplane, the MT Dragon 980kV motor provides excellent power and efficiency. Spinning an 11x6 folding prop with a 3-cell Hextronik battery, it only pulls a little over 16 amps (static tested) so a larger, more efficient prop is in order for this application. The motor gets slightly warm on extended climbs, which is to be expected when running at full throttle. Overall, a very powerful, efficient motor!

The hardware supplied with the motor would allow just about any possible mounting scenario, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover gold-plated wire plugs already installed and heat-shrinked from the factory. Windings are clean and tidy, and terminal wires are well protected.

A surprising value - I would not have expected such a quality product for this low price!

MT Dragon W35C3 980Kv

I purchased this motor for my Fliton Extra 260 mini. The specs on the MT Dragon W35C4 830Kv convinced me to pick one up but knowing I might not sping a large prop, I decided to purchase the midrange Kv rating of the series. It gives me great performance with an APC 12x6E but Im going to try to slow the plane down a little and try to get more torque out of this motor. As it is, Ive got the MT Dragon W35C2 1290Kv performs better with a simple APC 11x4.7 SF so I would suggest going with this motor instead. Ill update my feedback with this 980Kv motor as soon as I find the right prop. Overall great motor for the power to weight ratio and money.

For excellent torque, I must say this motor absolutely performs. It comes with pre-soldered 3.5mm bullet connectors (which is what I usually use anyway) and the prop adapter is made thicker and stronger then its smaller 20-20L counterpart. For the money, I certainly recommend this motor for those looking for a larger motor than the 20-20L flying 3-D models weighing up to 32 ounces. I must admit the weight scared me at first, but after the first flight, Im convinced this motor will not disappoint.

MT Dragon W35C3 980Kv

Nov 14, 2007

It seems to be a good and strong motor.

I've put it in my funjet with HXT 4S 2200 and APC-E 7x5.

Excellent results : 14,55V 12,4A at 12800rpm.

Vertical climbs are much comfotable than with previous high KV motor and 5x5 propeller.

I'll try a 7x7 to have a faster plane.
