HobbyKing 3D Filamento impresora 1.75mm POM 1kg Carrete (Negro)

PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH

Nov 29, 2019

Just.... look. Polyoxymethylene is just not a good material to print. It's stock for CNC mills and routers because it machines well, but it has a melting point of about 230 C, not the 260-285 on the listing here. Please do your research, because above 230 C, POM will begin offgassing formaldehyde vapor, and that is significantly more deadly than any hobbyist without an enclosure is going to be able to deal with. In addition, do not under any circumstances allow hot POM to meet PVC, because the two polymers together will cause an accelerated chain reaction that will release both formaldehyde and chlorine, which are both gases you do not want in your home without proper ducting and filtering.

Very tough to print!

Mar 08, 2018

After long and thorough tinkering I'm beginning to get usable results.
1. The warping is brutal, and it is very strong. First of all, you need to have good first layer adhesion.
What works: a sheet of Garolite (phenolic fiber board) bonded to 2mm alu, clamped to the bed. Heat up to 90°C and apply thin ABS slurry. This gives a very rough, velvet-like surface that bonds VERY well.
2. Use a wide brim. I use 8 lines and 2-3 layers. Bed temp 110-120°C. (Any higher and the ABS slurry goes soft).
3. Temperatures and speeds. You need to experiment A LOT, depends heavily on hotend and ambient temps. In theory it can be printed at 180°C but I never got good layer bonding under 220. You want to get as low as you can to minimize warping.
4. Try to avoid drafts and uneven cooling. A heated build chamber is a good idea, every degree helps.

Not one of the easiest material to print

Mar 29, 2017

POM is well known to be not so easy to print, and it is! I use it on a ABS "bed" because i bought it to be part of multimaterials object, my idea is to use it mixed with PC, I will try in the nect day this mix taht in my personal opinion is the best choice for having ultra strong result. I read a discussion on POM and people had good results printing them on cotton and on cardboard for having a good first layer bond. Temperature used by me nozzle 220 bed 130.
