flies nicely but you have to be carfull with landing it without breaking the prop or damaging the motor.

Bought this to go with the ME109 equivalent, so am hoping for the same enjoyable flight characteristics. The camo paint job on this is hilarious - the brown you see in the pics here is gold & the blue is really intense. It certainly stands out & wouldn't look out of place in a palace ! The supplied ESC is different to the ME109 - looks beefier & comes with an XT60 connector, so maybe they were raiding the parts bin when they put mine together. There's only space for a 2s battery though.

Unfortunately my luck with this plane sucked, although it looks very scale like the electronics in it are cheap, too bad they don't sell ARF's. First my ESC burnt out the first time plugging it in, then my elevator servo wouldn't go back to neutral position when releasing the transmitter sticks, and on it's first 2 maiden flights it tilted left and nose dived into the ground. Nose is crunched, wing tip broke off and the motor mount has come loose inside. This plane has been a disaster from the start. I am not a beginner I have been flying RC for 20 years, this is the second plane from Hobby King that didn't even last 5 flights. I have a Park-zone SE5A and it fly's like a dream.

Nice kit - especially for the money. Beautiful detail. Goes together easily and quickly. Beware - Goop/E-6000 will melt the foam on this plane like Alien acid! Gorilla Glue or hot melt glue work well. I added strips of packing tape to the leading edges of the wings and stabilizer. And I sprayed the plane with flat clear spray paint to make the finish more durable (test small area to be sure it's foam-safe). Leave the bombs off if you intend to belly-land it in grass. 8 grams of stick-on weight up under the belly where the ESC goes gave it a perfect CG for me.

Note that this is a two servo plane. Two control rods from the rear servo each control the independent elevator surfaces. The front servo controls the ailerons in the usual tandem fashion. The rudder is not functional.

As others have noted, you initialize the ESC as follows (after binding): turn on tx; plug battery into ESC; push throttle stick to 100pcnt and wait for tone, then pull throttle to off.

Comes with two props. In the event that these break you can switch to an 8x6 two-bladed prop (a folding prop or prop saver might not be a bad idea either) and a plastic spinner.

Overall: great kit for the money, fast build, hard to go wrong.

I just got my model and I can see like most people the metal drum that controls the COG is no longer attached to the plane itself but rolling around in the box that is a pest to be honest and the elevator servo had come unglued from its placement in the model. This is the only problem I could find, design wise it is as realistic as you can get for such a reasonable price and power a plenty, even on the test bed I can see that this model will be quick. The model will fit together perfectly so if like me you don't have lots of spare space its easy to transport to your flight area and to store at home. I can honestly say I understand the twitchy idea but once at speed the effect is gone and you just have to be delicate with your stick movement. This model would have got 5 stars for everything if it wasn't those two little points.

I received this beautifly finished model from the USA Warehouse in a very timely manner. Went together perfectly and looks awesome! First flight went well...did start with Aileron D/R at about 60pcnt, and this little bird flew perfectly. Great vintage warbird looks and authentic profile in the sky. Great Value and fun. Thank you Hobby King for another great RC model!!!!

Spitty arrived in the mail today. I assembled it and it looks awesome! Small damage on one wingtip, hardly noticeable. Drop boms have some small supports, whese were broken off. A little glue did the trick on this. Tonight when the weather is OK I am going to maiden it. CG is somewhat aft (weight isn't mounted), even with the bigger battery (Zippy 1000mah). I am going to try it nonetheless. Will update after the maiden.

Fantastic detailed Spitfire, one of the best scale foamies out there.
Not flown mine yet, its currently hanging on the wall in my living room along with the 109 from the same series.
Just a point, its mentioned on the video that its a late Mk V.. but it isnt, its more likely a Mk IX as it has the twin radiator cowlings under the wings, as opposed to a radiator & tubular oil cooler on the early Mk's I - V

firstly this little spit looks absolutely fantastic and is by far the most scale foamie spitfire I've seen it really is a work of art,it also flys very nice and has ample power but be warned it is very twitchy and not for the beginner pilot,I found that the mini fms warbird prop is the same size so fits as a replacement but you will have to drill the centre of the prop out to 6mm,I've done this and it flys much better as the fms prop is higher quality.

This is a very nice flying aircraft and very practical. Small size means it can be flown in quite a confined space. Very nice looking. Colour difference on the top and bottom means that orientation is easy to see in the air despite the small size. Good battery hatch with strong magnet, no worries about losing it in flight. Flies nice with 600 to 1000 mah 2 cell - more than enough power. Belly landing on soft grass is not problem. I have not had an issue breaking props or with tip stalling at slow speed. With a 1000 mah it can fly in moderate winds with no problem. Only drawback I have is with noticeable hysteresis on the elevator servo. Due to that only 3 stars for quality, but what more can you expect at this price. Overall excellent value for money.

Very satisfied :-)
