Very good and efficient motor. I use it on Yak 55 SP with 5S 5000mAh, 15x6 Graupner, more that 15 minutes easy flight time. Motor is cold after landing.

Before use have to check glue residuals between rotor and stator.

Sorry but it's garbage. I ran it for 2 mins. with a 15-8 prop and 4 cells, all's well. I switched to 6 cells and it immediately cut out at 1/2 throttle, tried it again and it semi seized up. This is the third Turnigy motor I tried , the other 2 ( different motors ) messed up after maybe 10 flights, this one didn't even get off the bench. I have 3 - Eflite motors that I've bought over the last 5 years and they are still running. Three times the cost but well worth it. I've learned my lesson. NO MORE CHEAP MOTORS.

I desperately would like to buy a 50-55b motor from Hobby King, but there is no indication, when these motors or their equivalents will possibly arrive...

Should i buy a smaler diameter like 42-xx motor from China? I guess, the torque can't be the same due to the diameter...

Value Hobby has one similar model, just some buxks over budjet and same price as the red chinese ones...

As i'm waiting now almost 5 months for hobby king motors, i want to see my Vortex .46 with an electric motor doing the same as with it's org. Nitro Engine, before my days are up.

Beeing an engeneer bymiself, i know, that less diameter motors can not have the the same torque, even if the chinese say so...

any suggestions from somebody who did something similar to convert from Nitro to Electric ???

rgds,
hansaship

I am using this motor on a GP Revolution 70'. Despite my efforts to balance the prop and spinner, I was getting lots of vibration. Removed both and ran the motor unloaded, only to find that the can (backward mount) was badly out of balance. I was able to mount the can and with prop adapter attached on my Dubro balancer, and used aluminum duct sealing tape on the outside of the can to balance. Vibration almost disappeared. The improved performance of the motor meant that I was able to switch from a 12x7 prop to a 13x8 with almost no increase in amp draw. If you are using this motor in a backward mount, that is by mounting the rotor coils to the firewall and spinning the stator with its attached magnets, I suggest you check it for balance. Also make sure you install the spacer and locking collar on the rear-facing shaft. If the can unscrews from the rear plate, follow the instructions in one of the reviews by BigTradioman on this review forum. Use permanent thread locker. good motor but it has issues.

Purchased 29/04/11, arrived with no apparent damage but felt gritty to turn. Attached to 80A esc, 5cell lipo and 13X8 turnigy prop. The smoke started at 50A both motor and ESC were too hot to touch after a few seconds. Tried different timings on the esc to no avail. Same esc workes fine on a 4260 so definatly a dodgy motor. Pulled it apart to inspect and the magnets are all firmly attached with some kind of black epoxy. Windings were terrible with copper hanging all over the place. The main issue I suspect was the "japanese" bearings unmistakably labled MADE IN TAIWAN one of which was very gritty to turn. I mean some QC issues are expected with how cheap this is but thats just an outright lie. Will see if i can get a refund but not overly hopefull

I maidened this motor on my 70" GP Revolver last night. Seems to be OK, 55 amps, 1150 Watts on a 6S battery and 14x7 prop. Plenty of power, really moves this 8.5 lb. plane. During preflight motor testing and prop selection, the can unscrewed from the front plate. Remove motor, disassemble, thread lock on front plate threads, reassemble, wait 24 hours. Test again, same problem again. Disassemble, blah blah, this time medium CA on threads. Seems tight now. Collar is 6mm, shaft is 8mm. I was able to find spacers at the local hardware store. I am somewhat concerned that there were no instructions related to mounting the prop adapter on the rear plate and installation of the collar and retaining collet. The thrust developed by this motor is significant, and a snap ring failure could easily result in injury and a lawsuit. The fact that the wrong collar was included compounds this problem. Turnigy, scrimp on instructions and quality control at your peril!

Just got in 8 for our Heavy Lift Hexacopter - 1 doesn't have the screw holes drilled properly for the mount and 1 other hasn't been machined properly to accept the prop adapters. (Its a full 1-2mm off and completely unusable.)

What a pain in the a$$. Order extras!!!
