Well built all metal retracts

Excellent full metal retracts for 1.5m planes. Would have to crash to damage them. Retract speed is perfect and overload/overvoltage protection is a great feature!
Wheels on wet runway can splash water into circuit board, but a bit of spray-on moisture barrier fixes that.
Will buy them again unless they go "discontinued"!

I replaced the mechanical retracts in the large AT-6 Texan II from Seagull. I had to modify the wing considerably to make them fit. They were a little noisy and I thought they were probably pulling a lot of current from my main 4500 maH battery so I hooked up a separate 6 v nicad for the retracts only and this worked perfectly. Unfortunately after a few flights I dumb-thumbed it by getting to slow turning on final and stalled a wing. Overall the retracts worked great for me.

The suspension spring doesn't go all the way it gets stuck at 70% on one of the struts, but its not a big deal.

retracts are very nice and strong. FEDX shipping sucks with all there extra fees that they send as a bill in the mail

These retracts are beautiful but unfortunately they are not reliable. When I received the set the nose retract didn't work. HK promptly replaced it. But then one of the main retracts stopped working. This all happened before the plane had flown. In both instances it was the switching board that failed.

Terrible electrical quality control

First set delivered were electrically inert. They were replaced with a set sent from HK. They were electrically inert too. That's six units out of six. Big waste of my time and Hobby King's money. Do they not check items work properly during the manufacturing process?
If they had worked as advertised, they'd represent good value as mechanically they appear to be well made.

I ordered this set to go into a Jet Hangar Hobbies F9F Panther. The 100 mm main length is very important for this application. Unfortunately, the oleos were120-125 mm. Fortunately I'm just starting the project but for this price, it's irritating to have to spend more to purchase different struts.
On the other hand , the quality looks to be excellent, both in the struts and the retract mechanism.
